Hi all/YourteacherLE,

I have been frustrated at this for a couple of hours!

I read all the posts and yours (sorry everyone else) was the most concise and easiest to follow!

Within 5 minutes it was fixed!!!

Many, many thanks once again.

YourTeacherLE!
You've been very helpful. I 'extended' the TinyMCE and managed to get a video on an Article. BUT now above it there is a large white box that has a vertical bar along side it. AND below the video it says, type=application/x-shockwave-flash">

So now what do I do??? It only shows up in the finished product, not in the preview! I'm new to this, and need where to go and what to do!!
Thanks again!

I do not see an icon for "Embed Media". :(

I think I have the TinyMCE set correctly? Help!

I can't figure out how to turn off the editor. I there is no choice in the drop down box that says Editor-No Editor. :'(

Please advise!
Donna

I am totally lost here.

First, I am not a expert and that is probably half the problem.

I've done *everything* on this post that relates to editors. I just cannot get it to work. All I see on the site is the {youtube}......... script.

I am trying to add a you tube video to the module on the front page of my site (version 1.5.23) and have tried to add it direct into the module page and create an article. I've also turned off JCE editor, turned on no editor and tiny MCE. Changed the parameters as per above.

Nothing I do works.

Can someone please explain very slowly and loudly for us dummies?? :)

LOL... this always kills me with Jommla....

"Enter the url of the video on YouTube. And click on "Enter". It's that easy."

Never, ever is it THAT easy with Joomla.
What a joke.
By this time in the year 2011 you should be able to drag a video from your desktop to any article or module position anywhere on any page in any template.

This is a fine example of how far Joomla has yet to go.
Frustrating as hell unless you love sitting by the nightlight until 4am playing under the hood of your css and php and html... oh joy!

I do not understand why a plug in is needed for this.

Its very straight forward HTML code.. if a person uses the embed code, it should work..

SOLVED!!!

No need of Plugin or component, just need to change your text filters in the article manager.

Found the solution here:

I'm happy now :D

The source came from:

Hi,

I have had problems adding YouTube videos to joomla and have tried all the solutions suggested but with no luck.

I now have a very simple solution:

When you go to copy the 'embed' code in YouTube, don't copy the standard html code that first comes up - in the options below, click on 'use old embed code' - then copy the code and paste it into your joomla page in html mode.

Example:

new YouTube code -
<iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HbrxMno1XBE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

old YouTube code -
<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HbrxMno1XBE?version=3&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HbrxMno1XBE?version=3&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="390" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Use the old code. Much more code with the old version, but works!

Hope this helps.

If you're running Joomla 1.5 then you are posting in the wrong part of the forum.

You might want to look at the plug-in extension called Allvideos.  It's a dandy for stuff like that.  Go to the extensions area of the joomla site and you'll find a link for it there.

Definitely! It's exactly what you want, all you need to do is install the Allvideos Plugin/Mambot, publish it, and then use {youtube}EsxN0DpFFOs{/youtube} (in your example).

Hi, I got this to work on my website but I can't figure out how to change the size of the video. Is there a way I can do this?

Thanks.

Look at the plugin configuration, there is a link to a full help which shows you what to do, a matter of reading the instructions...

Thanks, I'd just figured it out. You can set the default size of videos in the mambot settings.

Thanks!

I installed and enabled the AllVideos extension, and then I entered into my article
{youtube}myvideo{/youtube}. But when I preview my site I do not see the video. I simply see the text {youtube}myvideo{/youtube} displayed on the page. Why can't I view the video? Am I missing a step in enabling this feature? Any help will be much appreciated. :-[

Thanks for the response. Can you please give more details. I am new to Joomla. How do you get into code view? I tried toggling the source code to enter the data. But it still does not work.

If you toggle to source code view and you enter the code as stated above then you are doing the right thing.

Is the mambot enabled?

The AllVideos extension is enabled. I went into Plugin Manager, clicked AllVideos and enabled it. But it still does not help. It is as though the {...} syntax is not recognized by the extension as it is printed as text on the web page. Any other ideas?

It sounds as if it is conflicting with another plugin or possibly another module on the page.

What other plugins have you installed? You could try disabling the additional plugins/modules.

The only other extensions I explicitely installed are the JCE Editor and Payment Form. I have disabled these and tried, but I still get the same problem...

OK, well you are in the wrong forum. This is for Joomla 1.0. If you want answers that are right for 1.5 then raise them in the right part of the forum.

It is no problem. If you just get to the right part of the forum you will get better informed answers, nobody visits here. ----------tumbleweed----------->

Try this module... it will fetch all your uploads or videos from a playlist. You don't need to update your site each time you upload a video, It will be automatically fetched!

It may be because I'm just a beginner too but I feel the same way. I want to create a smooth experience for my user akin to Facebook or similar sites. All I want them to do is to literally just type stuff, click a button and whatever content they created just appear on their site. On their part it should take 2 steps to get whatever they want on the site because I have dealt with the complicated processes beforehand. Yet simplicity seems to be an unachievable goal sometimes.
