Hi Vish
You are absolutely right, so long as we have Indic Joomla for all Indian languages, we do not need a site per language. As I have mentioned earlier...
xtrance wrote:
Unless Vish agree and it is approved by Joomla, for the time being joomlamalayalam.org will remain as a test site.

This of course is because you were the person behind initiating the Indian language support for Joomla and I respect and appreciate your efforts in this matter.

The purpose of taking the domain is to keep the same within  the community.

With respect to our official site I have 2 suggestions, now as we type http://www.indicjoomla.org we go to http://joomlaindia.org/prod/ I would suggest that it should go to a common page which portrays all language extensions in IndicJoomla. This would help people know about all the Indian language extensions available under one umbrella. Secondly the Malayalam language file name and name of the Malayalam Language site,  why don’t we keep it just Joomla! Malayalam ? instead of Indicjoomla! Malayalam. These are just my suggestions.

Well

IndicJoomla! was the original project and to make it sound and look like all the languages are part of one project, I suggested Romit to use IndicJoomla! Bengali which due to some other glitches got turned into IndicJoomla! Bengali (India). So, If someone sees Joomla Malayalam, that someone cannot tell that this Malayalam is under IndicJoomla and one of the languages of Indic Community. So thats why we started IndicJoomla! thingy.

About the URL, yes, I agree I need to fix that. I have just been really busy with so many things I have put in my basket. My vision is to have language files and demos available for not just Joomla!, but all Open Source applications under one umbrella. Be it SMF, Drupal, phpNuke. And I have a domain name registered for the same called IndicPortal.org.

You will see on IndicJoomla I have another project hosted called Saletee. Its a TinyMCE plugin that allows you to type in hindi in TinyMCE. Something like this is what I want to comeup with, with everyone aboard.

I will eventually be moving IndicJoomla.org to IndicPortal.org. When will it happen, I do not know. But I do hope to have you and everyone with me when doing so because this is not just about me, its about the community as a whole, and we have to build this together.

I have lectured a lot.

हम होंगे कामयाब ,हम होंगे कामयाब एक दिन ....

And lets not forget neither you are doing it for money neither am I. What is important to us is building the community and going forward together.

Ok, first of all please do not take this as an issue of conflict but a simple exchange of views  :)

As Vish said, Indicjoomla is the original project for translating Joomla language files to all indian sub-continent languages. But my view is Indic Joomla shall remain as the main project name and each translation should be called Joomla! (language name).  all other (non-Indian) language files is called so and in the case of Indian languages we should not sub-divide it. (this makes the Indian language look a subsidiary of Hindi or Indicjoomla and not Joomla). This means IndicJoomla project may be subdivided into each language project of Joomla and not IndicJoomla.

So that IndicJoomla! Is the project name and each language file will be called Joomla! (language name), this will keep the integrity of  Joomla as well as the community.

My personal view is we all love Joomla and we are working for the development of Joomla and its community, and spreading Joomla in other languages. As such we should keep the indicjoomla site intact as the project website of Joomla language files. And exclusive for Joomla alone!

Of course you can have the IndicPortal.org for all the open source solutions and translation projects, and I would definitely support such a portal, but without sacrificing IndicJoomla project.

I think I should have never mentioned IndicPortal project of mine as it has nothing to do with IndicJoomla whatso ever. So, please scratch that.

We are working on coming up with a formal plan for the other issue raised. Please hang on.

hey..

i have made some changes to the articles in the http://www.joomlaindia.org/malayalam/ ..
I feel most content in that site is not very appropriate... some of them are copied from another website..

I have recently added some content which is a translation of the Joomla help and intro manual..

If any one has some generic original articles...!
or if you can write something good about this malyalam joomla! please send them to me..(or u may even post it here..)

I am working to make the joomla malayalm package complete with default malayalam articles..

I will also love to encourage visitors of this forum to visit the malayalam version of joomla @
http://www.joomlaindia.org/malayalam/        .. and post your comments here..

Hello rekesh
it is not a font, but the translation of Joomla core files to malayalam language. Once you install the language and set the default language to Malayalam you will see it working, However it will not translate or show the contents in Malayalam, those you have to create.

Dear Rakesh and Vish (additionally),

Rakesh, I am glad to see that you have taken hardships to install and test the Joomla! Malayalam.
U can use either of them if can type it in Unicode. But if U are looking for a transiteration product i would suggest Varamozhi. but unfortunately i think it is available only for Windows (lets praise Java for portable application that it has given us.. ).
But thank god ! we have Ilamozhi, which is an online version of Varamozhi Transliteration product.

please find it here http://adeign.googlepages.com/ilamozhi.html

now Vish,
do u think there is a way to incorporate such a thing in the Malayalam content Editor of Joomla! ?
may be u can talk to the development team about this. I would love to do the developement for this section .....if they will allow me !!

i think this will be the same with other indian languages also..

with LOVE, sunil

Friends,

Cheers,

I'm not a techy, but am precisely tweaky!
You already seen me with Ilamozhi, the online Malayalam Transliteration tool at: http://adeign.googlepages.com/ilamozhi.html
I'm glad, Ilamozhi is mentioned and tried out in this group.
Let's make it happen together...

BTW, I'm already on a Malayalam Websit project with Joomla! 1.5 RC1

Regards,
Deign

Dear Martin,

Glad you are also willing to contribute. Can we get a glossary for translation to Malayalam, like the one followed by Linux teams? It will make translation easy and consistant for certain tech terms.

Regards,
Deign

thats a really nice idea!

We must into integrating the varamozhi editor to Joomla's Content editor.

Although i am busy with my work. I can try add that functionality to Joomla. (but of course only if 'Cibu' permits !!)
But are the Joomla Community Prepraed to take it ? and Supply with the Joomla 1.5 Malayalam Pack ?? ( i dont think so) . This should be feasible for most indian languages..
