This is a nice component
I believe it could be come very poplar at many Joomla sites.

To help you improve this: I had a small issue while installing it (Using the SVN version, 7404 current version)
The language files didn't install for the component as well the plugin.
See below.



After manual creating the 3 en-GB language files the text seems to be ok in the Plugin settings.
Uninstall still fails, even on the en-GB files.

In my first test I used the Content Table, but I didn't like the Latest News to be comments so I changed the setting to No.
After posting a comment:


Table 'joomla15.jos_yvcomment' doesn't exist. Correct, it doesn't excist. The table was Table 'joomla15.jos_yvComment' doesn't exist
After renaming the jos_yvComment to jos_yvcomment the error was gone

Also I encountered some problems with HTML tags. Few examples:

The not working HTML-tags are loading the page forever.

Some requests, a few are already mentioned here.
More requests means more people who want it to be implemented So thats not a bad thing.

• (Simplyfied?) TinyMCE
• Anti-Flood (Press the Post button a few times and the message is in the database a few times)
• Time-between-posts, also a form of anti-flood
• Guest posting with Captcha
• Backend admin instead of front-end

Hello - I am using your yvcomment addon for Joomla 1.6, and needed a bit of help trying to fix a problem in using it...

My problem is that I need to reset the configuration of the plugin to disallow comments on one particular category of articles - and/or one single article. The plugin and modules are FULLY functional on my site with absolutely no problems in working... so I know the plugin and modules are THERE. But, when I go to find them in the plugin manager to reset my configuration options, I can't find the plugin in it at all, even by the ID number. I can find it in the "manage" area under Extensions manager - and it says it's a plugin and gives me the name and ID number... but I can't edit it from that screen other than to enable or disable it (it is enabled..) and can't find it in the actual Plugins Manager by name OR by ID.

Am I looking in the wrong place? Or is this a problem with Joomla in general?

I don't expect to have any problems making the changes in configuration that I need to make, once I find where I can do that. I just need help locating the plugin or module that will give me the configuration options to disallow comments on one article or a category of them and can't seem to find an answer for this anywhere.

I just came across your brilliant commenting system - I'm really happy with it.
There's one thing I am missing though: Delete your own comments! I have to add that I jumped onto the Joomla 1.6 train right 2 months ago, so maybe I have overlooked something ... at least I was unable to find an ACL option like "delete own". Since setting the standard ACL Delete to allowed on the comments' category would mean: I'm allowed to delete comments of other members, too. Not good.

So, my idea was to change the condition in ActionAllowed to
"if ($action == 'core.edit' || $action == 'core.delete' && ($commentId !=0))"
and this way accomplish a "delete own" on the fly by simply setting "edit own" to allowed.

Is it possible to connect yvComment with commponent? Name of commponent is en masse(component fot group buying) and i need comments above the offers. In article works perfect . any idea how connect article with component and manage comments to work.

The problem with the same title. Users have nothing (no error report, just preview of comment) when they are trying to publish a comment with the same title, as someone previous title. I know what the problem deals with alias, Joomla requires unique aliases. But I don't know how to enable the unique alias of comment.

Do you have a solution for unique aliases in your plugin?

^Solved "Another article from this category has the same alias" problem, which occurred when two comments with the same subject were posted. Now yvComment automatically finds unused alias adding digits to the comment's alias.

I need to connect article with component and manage comments to work in joomla 1.6. Is it possible to connect yvComment with commponent?.

If you connect article with component (I mean if you have one article for each item of your component), you will have ability to make comments on that articles. Effectively you will have comments on your component's items.
This doesn't require any modifications to yvComment.

Is this what you meant?

OK, now yvComment works on defined articles without problems,but i have dynamic items, how do i associate the comments on each item?. Thanks in advance.

The problem I have is not displaying the proper number of comments. As if the comments counter could not see threaded 'comments on comments'.
I mean, they are all displayed properly once you open the article, but I have only article summaries in front page, with the number of comments displayed below the article - and this number is wrong, because for some reason it doesn't include comments on comments in threads.

I wonder if it's some feature of the plugin that I can't figure out, or it's about me not being able to apply correct settings for joomla articles.
