Hi all,

   I have been a *ambo user for a long time (probably more like Abuse) and have seen such a wonderful community that surrounds it...It is in that spirit that I ask this.

  We are helping (along with thousands of other smaller towns) some of the evacuees (Feeding them, providing shelter, etc) ...but one thing that they are requesting we can do nothing about so far, that is a place to register their name so that family members can find out where each other are.

Most have been seperated from their families, and that remains at the top of their list...we have a website that we would like to use for this purpose ... it is currently running the newest version of *ambo.

We would like a script similar to the one we all used here from the forum to list Name suggestions...adding our suggestions and having them listed after adding them...only we would like for these folks to be able to list their names a, contact info, and where they are so they can contact each other...we are providing emails and such to each....any takers?

I know absolutley very little (and have very little time) to be able to do this now for the work taht is going on...

  Any help is appreciated.....

This is really awesome to see you stepping up to help out.  Obviously the same goes to JayDee... It's really great that the community is there to help with things like this.  I wish I had the expertise to help as well, but it warms the heart to see people helping.

  Thank you so much...it is coming together so nice.

  We have been out trying to get service (wireless internet) up to some of the Sherriffs offices due to the slammed POTS lines around here...it has affected everything, including 911 calls...Nuvio has donated 20 IP phones and they are absolutely rocking!

  We will have evacuees phoning family soon....and using the websites out there, just knowing where a family member is or even being able to do "something", even if it just a search, will help them...Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts...

We will be putting up pictures soon on the website and adding emails...thanks again all

OK JayDee, the forms are now all finished and working properly as far as I could test them.

They however only work in the frontend on your site, because of some file access issues I did
not have time to track down, but you can do everything from the frontend.

I'm going next help somebody else to build a set of forms for shelter management. It will extend
the forms you have, if you want them too just let me know.

Good luck to you and all other helpers and people affected by the desaster. If you need any more
support with the forms, just post here or send me a mail.

I think another searchable database where volunteers can registrate with name, email, phones, area, zip,
city,skills/vehicles/machines and time availability would help. I dont know if there are other things with higher priority on
your list though.

I know you must be very busy (or tired) at the moment, helping all those people in your shelter.
If you find some time, please contact me through this thread or by mail.

I have made a banner now myself, but I'm a poor designer and so it looks. So if any of the graphic artists here
in the forum minds creating something better that would be terrific.

Meanwhile you can pull my banner from the header of http://www.facileforms.biz and
install it on your site. Make it point to http://www.churchofthe.net to direct as many affected
people as possible to the registration site. The more people registrate, the bigger are chances to get families
back together.

Peter thanks for letting me know about this thread, I had no idea.  And thanks to all of you offering help.

My name is Scott Polk, I live about 40 miles south of Houston, TX.  Hundreds of thousands of refugees are pouring into Texas, and I want to provide officials with a way of accounting for every person, getting them medical attention and aid needed, and get families and friends reunited now.  

What I am trying to accomplish is huge, and every minute counts.  Whatever help can be given would be greatly appreciated.  I am attempting to contact various local, state and national politicians to help aid this effort.

I realize I can't have everything, but, The "perfect world" for this site will be as follows: (Peter has already been a huge help with this)

1. Register and photograph every refugee and assign each a unique id.  Get personal info, previous work info, missing family info.

2. Create either a basic/or advanced medical record for each refugee (See http://sourceforge.net/projects/freemed maybe this can be implimented some way)

3. Create email accounts for every refugee, and automatically send email alerts if family member found.

4.  Morgue List of identified or unidentified bodies, and where they were found - any other info that can help identify a loved one who has passed.  Need this to tie into missing family info and notifications.

5. Use docman and start putting together libraries of government aid forms to get them help.

6.  Job board to get them into the system to recieve jobs/and employers hire.

7. Forums/Blogs to let them communicate, vent and connect with family or whatever else.
