?TP=1 Preview Broken! Help please! [RESOLVED]

I’m using Gavick “The World News II” on 1.7.2

My preview was working fine then all of a sudden stopped. Now when I enter the url http://localhost/?tp=1 I get just a blank page. It was working earlier and just stopped.

I have it enabled under template preferences but doesn’t work. If I change default template back to beez or another stock template it does work.

I have no idea where to look to fix it and I really need the preview to complete the site.

I’m building locally using MAMP on a MacBookPro.

I apologize if I misspoke. It is enabled and works fine for other templates. It somehow stopped working on the one I’m using.

Setting is enabled under template manager and I am a Super User.

Any ideas?

what happens when you type http://localhost/ ?

Try replacing the Joomla core files with fresh from the full package.zip of the same version as the Joomla you are running.

Interesting suggestion. I tried http://localhost/? and it loads the home page like normal. Still no preview. Are you suggesting I “reinstall” 1.7.2? Not sure how that’s done. You mean download and paste files into my htdocs (MAMP) folder where joomla is currently installed?

I guess, technically since I haven’t gotten very far on this latest project, I could always scrap the entire thing and reinstall the quick start template and joomla. My problem is I’d prefer to learn why and how it happened and how to fix it. That way I don’t have to bail on every project because I hit a snag.

Which files would you consider “core”? I ask because I’m concerned (like most rookies) about overwriting files that exist and being locked out of my site or reversing work done thus far.

Sorry to spam my own thread but I located the issue and will post it for anyone that may have this problem.

Simply put, in the Gavick World News II template, by setting up external links to open in a new window “without navigation” somehow disables the tp=1 feature.

I have no idea why and determined this only thru trial and error. (and more than a few hours of pulling my hair out - you can see in my avatar that I’m bald. I started this project with an afro! LOL)

Thank you Webdongle for your attempts at helping me. I hope someone else can learn from my mishap.
