Far from ready for a complete multilingual solution?

As I can see, Joomla 1.6/1.7 do not offer a complete, simple multilingual solution like Joomla 1.5 with Joomfish give us all those years.

One important concept:

Joomla 1.5 without Joomfish is not a pro CMS solution.

Any CMS without a complete and easy way, even for non web-savy site owners to present ALL their contents to a multilingual audience are destine to diseappear.

I can bet my short, that nobody from Joomla call the people behind joomfish to participate or even give some input when they start to upgrade the 1.5 framework.
Even if they did, it don’t show in the multilingual solution that is propose.

I’m in 1.7 testing and it’s obvious for me that I will not make any sites for my customers with 1.7. Without any real solution out there, my only choice after many years of Joomla development is to pray and support Joomfish people to help us and start to look for an alternative platform, sadly....

You guys hear about Wordpress, Drupal, Concrete...?

As far as I know, Joomfish people are working on a Joomfish solution for the 1.6/1.7/2.5 series.
You should contact them to know when they are going to release a compatible version.

It has never been the intention of the Production Working group to replace Joomfish or other similar components in this series, just to propose a simple solution for simple sites.
This has been stated multiple times in all docs and tutorials.

Joomfish people have always been welcome (and still are), as any other developer, to participate in core development.

Don’t get me wrong here I don’t think Wordpress or Drupal have the flexibility of Joomla both for developers and users or site owner.

Just for your information:

Navigating between Joomfish and Joomla, I can say that more and more serious users think to move away from Joomla enterly for the lack of multilingual ability in the actual version. Some new extension don’t support the 1.5 version and everybody going theit merry way.

I think that the multilingual ability should have been tackle before any major joomla upgrade. This is, to me, a extremly serious mistake and everything is left in the hand off third party devloppers like Joomfish.

To all Joomla Dev, pray for their success or Joomla will soon be history.
