Article is published but not showing

I am working on a Joomla installation that was hacked and had to be cleaned up and then upgraded to version 1.5.23 - this was done by a Joomla professional

I am a super administrator. I've created a new article, in an existing category with 4 existing articles, in the same section, published it and it doesn't show.

I have checked that the time settings are correct, I have tried backdating the entry date.

I have altered another article in the same category, to check that I have access and also that I am doing all the right things. The alteration displayed immediately. Both articles appear to be set up identically.

The new article shows with a green tick for published, the category and section are correct. Access level is public and finish publishing is 'never'

I've waited 24 hrs in case it mysteriously turned up!! Naturally I am refreshing each time I check.

I've run out of ideas, hope someone here can tell me what I've missed.

My experience level with Joomla is low, I specialise in Wordpress. I know CSS, HTML, have limited knowledge of MySql and can edit PHP and JS

(a) Is the Section where this article belongs to is Published?

(b) Is the Category where this article belongs to is Published?

(c) Is the Article Published?

(d) Is the Menu Item to which this article is attached is Published?

(e) Whether other articles in the same category and/or section gets displayed?

(f) What is the Layout out of the Menu Item that this article is attached to?

(g) Are you using a standard template that comes with Joomla!? If not, try to change the template and see what happens.

(h) What is your site's URL?

a yes section
b yes category
c yes article
d The menu is displayed correctly and has other items in it

e yes there are other articles in that section and in that category which are displaying. The content was brought over from the previous installation.
I altered one of the articles and the alteration displayed correctly, it's just the new article that won't display.

f The layout is - Main menu heading 'LEARNING' this opens a page with 3 links"Beer, Wine, Spirits". On clicking 'Spirits' it goes to a page with two links "Spirit Articles" & "Spirit Tips" - on opening "Spirit Articles" there are 4 links, beginning with "Believe it or not".
My article should be there (under "Spirit Articles".)

To prove I had access and was doing everything correctly, I compared the second link "Weird Countries with Weird Laws" to my new article "Whiskey profile Recipe Booklet" which is a link to a pdf file. Every setting appeared identical.

I then made an alteration to the text of "weird...." and resaved it, and it saved OK and my alteration displayed correctly.

g The Template is an Artisteer theme, the previous version wasn't.(I've just discovered that thanks to your question)

Just reviewed the site and the link referenced and it look like all the links are working.

I created the article in the backend as a super administrator - it shows as published but I can't see it. Have refreshed the page many times. Do I have to authrosie it? if so, how? I can't find any place to do that

The site is running slow at the moment, there is a glitch in the system, we're working on it.

OK I see what you're thinking- this url does display the page

but it is not displaying in Spirit Articles as a clickable link- have I done something wrong?

Are you using any SEF related extensions for creating links?

sorry I didn't know what SEF is -do now, Search Engine Friendly - I looked under plugins and found System SEF enabled - it is set at public and I have no idea what it does

Reviewed the site and the way the site has been built, you have to edit the article titled Spirits Articles (ID 91) and add the link to your new article titled Whiskey Profile Recipe Booklet (ID 107).
