I already thought so. This doesn't work yet with my hosting provider, I've contacted them to find a solution for this.

Thanks, Tom

With 1.7.1 there were some database changes as well if I remember correctly, so uploading the files wouldn't have been enough and the sql files would be needed as well. Try using Admin Tools to reinstall 1.7.2 and that should hopefully fix things for you: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tion/14087

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

My hosting company fixed everything for me. But I'm impressed by Admin Tools, so thanks for this tip.

Kind regards, Tom

Other extensions went okay. My hoster explained why it didn't work. Long story and it made me happy it's not my kind of work, so don't ask me to explain :).

Hello dear community, good evening -

plugin_googlemap_J16_J17.2.14.zip
jumi_pack_2.0.6_for_J1.6.zip
Jevents 2.0.10

result: Nothing - can be installed - all fails - with various errors... ;

JFolder::create: Could not create directory
Unable to create destination

JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected
Warning: Failed to move file!

But - above all - I am not able to install anything... All fails. What can i do!? I am lost here

I am sorry....I'm helpless...So I've to ask here my Question.

I just installed Joomla 1.7.2. But using this, I can not add a new article using Article Manager. I clicked the "new" button. There should come an editing screen as many tutorials shows. But in Joomla 1.7.2, that screen has not appeared. I tried many ways but failed. Before trying to add a new article I set the site name using "Global Configuration" and saved that.

I have been able to add a new article in Joomla 1.6 through these process .

Now, please, help me anyone. Why I can't add a new article in Joomla 1.7.2. :(

Is it a clean new install or an upgrade from 1.6 ?

Is there any problem if I install Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 separately. I have done it by making two distinct folder in htdocs folder of XAMPP installation(named joomla16 and joomla_version_17). I also made two diffferent databases in MySQL for each of those. Will it cause any problem while using Joomla for web development?

But when I faced the problem of adding a new article, there was only Joomla 1.7.2 in my computer which was a clean new install. Later I installed Joomla 1.6 to check that whether this problem exists in Joomla 1.6.

Or it's a file ownership issue. Either way, you can have your web host correct things for you.

Which browser and browser version are you using? Have you tried it in another browser?

hello again me

thx Nick - great to hear from you!
well my admin denies all apropiate solutions like running server with Suphp and /or running server with CGI /fcgi

all i can have is the use of SETGIT-Bit - i am allowed to work with this setgit-bit. this is all i can have - in the fight against the wwwrun-issue

so i have strange dificulties in installing extensions in the new Joomla 1.7.2

By the way: i have seen that i am not able to write into the config-file.

in the gobal settings i got the following message - - eg. if i wanted to set some new values:

Could not save data. Error: Could not write to the configuration file

but see - i have the following chmod on the configuration-file. is this not enough? !

-rwxrwsrwx

love to hear from you

greetings

I tried it in Mozilla Firefox 3.6.22,Mozilla Firefox 3.6.18,Mozilla Firefox 8,Opera 11.52,Internet explorer.

I was able to add a new article in Joomla 1.7.2 while using Internet explorer among those.

Thanks Nick for pointing out this matter. But why I can't add a new article in Joomla 1.7.2 using other browsers ?

Another question which I asked previously , if I install two distinct version of Joomla(1.6 and 1.7.2) using two different folder in my localhost and use two different MySQL databases for those, will there be any problem ?

I upgraded by uploading the files in the J!1.7.0. to 1.7.2 patch package.
Switching templates doesn't change anuthing.
Upgrade shall not be done via ftp upload but by installing the upgrade pack.

Re: Discuss Joomla! 1.7.2 Released// Sorry 1.7.3 already out

Though off topic maybe but realize that Joomla 1.7.3 has been released and it is advised that all users upgrade to this version?

It is not only advised, it is compulsory, as some important vulnerabilities are corrected in 1.7.3

Hi
I've problem updating from 1.7.1 - 1.7.2
By wrong, i've uploaded the update files without the database.

Tried to install the update package, but didn't succeeded.

Now, i tried to install 1.7.3-Update package,
I get error, as seen in the snapshot.

My site is ready, and it's difficult to be rebuild from the beginig.
Isn't there any manual method to over come these update problems?

Hope i can find help.

Hope, if possible, in open thread for discussion about 1.7.3 updates.

Okay so I'm a novice at the Joomlal thing. And I did a little research and uncovered some rather interesting tidbits of information here: "Joomla is an award-winning content management system (CMS)... enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications.... Many aspects, including its ease-of-use and extensibility, have made Joomla the most popular Web site software available. Best of all, Joomla is an open source solution that is freely available to everyone. I like several things about what I've read here. First of all - it's FREE. Second of all you can personalize many of Joomla's features to meet your personal expectations. That sits really well with me. And I'm about to get going with the Joomla site I've created - I'm really siked to take a look at how it will work out!!!
