Hi
I need to display one of my module in different positions in different page. Basically i have created one portfolio module with the help of banner module. In the home page I positioned that module in User 4 Position ( bottom left ). Now i need the same module to be displayed on the other pages throughout the bottom position. I tried to display that on the bottom . It is coming up but it shows only on the user4 position. But i need that one covering user4,user5 and user6 positions. Please help me to solve this issue.

Thanks

I found that you can use {loadposition myposition} within a module. Therefore, I created the main module that I want to display in multiple locations and assigned it a position of "floater1", then created some extra mods with only this text in the body: {loadposition floater1} which I assigned to various positions and pages on the site. Now I only have to edit the main module once to change all variations of it around the site. Hope that helps someone.

The solution is to make copies of the module (or if a Joomla module create new modules). That way each instance can be assigned a different position to different menu items.

The problem with making copies is this - if you want to make a change to the content of the module, you have to edit every copy. On large sites this could become quite cumbersome. Speaking for myself, I needed a solution that didn't have me monitoring multiple modules with the exact same content. If I am reusing a module 1:1, using the {loadposition...} makes more sense.

Only if make copies before you edit.

Never tried that in a module, might give it a try one day.

OK guys, can you help me here. Using the {loadposition myposition} method works fine at first for me until I tell the original module not to appear on other pages.

What I have is a home page where the module will be on the bottom of the page under a large welcome image. When going to other pages this image disappears and for layout purposes I'd like the modules to move to the sidebar and to disappear from the bottom.

When telling the module from the homepage not appear on other pages so that the sidebar module can display it it does not appear. The module area appears but not the module.

Any ideas?

@jimpunker - if I had to guess, it sounds like the original module was given an actual module position on the site (i.e., a position that exists in your template). I would instead assign it a nonsense position like "myposition" and allow it to be seen on all pages. Then create two new mods using {loadposition myposition} one to display at the bottom of your home page and one to display in the sidebar of other pages.

Hope that helps.

Ok to make sure I have this correct. You are speaking of creating a basic or custom HTML module? then placing the {loadposition myposition} in that?
The reason I am asking this, there are many new joomla users who come here daily and have no idea you can create custom HTML modules let alone be able to assign modules using this method. I figured asking this will make it easier for them.

This will be a big help to me, I have several templates all which have different names for common positions and it is a nightmare. This allow me to load one module across different templates/positions no matter the position name... correct?
