I've spent a day reading over all the header posts and experimenting with the tips. I understand clearing the cache. I've installed Firebug. I've read over the WIKI tutorial. (24 hours so far)! I understand the CSS changes. I'm working on a local server (XAMP). So I can continue with the guts of the site, could you please help. I'd really like to get past this.

1 - I want the header to be 600 x 150. I made changes to the css but header pic is still cut off at the bottom and some on both sides.
2 - I do not want a header mask. Commenting it out dropped my header down with this in the top left corner:
It also wrapped the text resize under the header and to the left........

3 - I also want to replace the Joomla logo with one wider and mine. (I'm flexible here). I'm familiar with html and some css. I know the total width is 987(?) so I should have some play here.

Basically a header and a logo 150 px high with no header mask.

1- If we add an image as background image from CSS, it'll cut if we assign height and width less than the image dimensions.

2- Which template you are using, can you post the website URL here

Using Firebug I was able to locate and change all the dimensions I needed. Instead of disabling the header mask, I set the width to 0 and that got rid of it. All my header pictures are working great. I still need to work with the logo portion but have instead used the text option within the template and that is satisfactory for now.
