I have been involved with a site the owners of which have comissioned an SEO expert to take a look at the coding. They have come back with this comment:
There are also some errors with the way the Meta Keywords and Meta Descriptions have been written on your site. Your developers have included the section "meta name=description content=" and "meta name=keyword content= ". These two parts should not be included in your Meta Keyword and Meta Description tags - if you tell your developers this, they will know what you mean!
I have had a look at the meta tags on a couple of pages, and to be honest I don't know what they mean! I figured it would be wise to ask here before getting back and perhaps ending up looking even more stupid than normal...
Here are the tags from a typical page:
<meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="content-type">
<meta content="index, follow" name="robots">
<meta content="Coin Street, South Bank & Bankside, Coin Street neighbourhood centre, Galleries & exhibitions, Conferences & meetings, Space hire, Leisure & sport, Shop eat drink, Restaurants, cafès & bars, Gift ideas, Workshops & courses, Exhibitions & events, What's on at the South Bank, The South Bank, The Campaign, Coin Street Community Builders, Opening up the river, Social enterprise consultancy, Young people, Oxo Tower Wharf, Nursery, Training & employment, Local people & businesses" name="keywords">
<meta content="Board members | Coin Street" name="title">
<meta content="Administrator" name="author">
<meta content="Coin Street Community Builders (CSCB) is a social enterprise and development trust which seeks to make London's South Bank a better place in which to live, to work and to visit. Since 1984 CSCB has transformed a largely derelict 13 acre site into a thriving mixed use neighbourhood." name="description">
<meta content="" name="generator">
Can anybody see what these SEO people are refering to?
Thanks in advance
