I've been working with Joomla for about a year now and I'm interested in broadcasting my own internet radio content. I took a look at in the extensions and there looks to be a few good modules etc. for embedded shoutcast broadcasts in your site but I don't think that's an option for me as I recent switched to an iMac from PC and apparently Shoutcast doesn't work with Mac.

I was hoping to get some guidance on what might be recommended in terms of a Joomla module/component to accomplish this and also what would be recommended in terms of Mac software to power it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Losh

It's an old thread I'm responding to but I'm in the same boat. I want to create an internet radio station - and not one through somebody else's website/service.

What I have:
    - Server space with heavy duty bandwidth
    - WHM reseller status so I can implement whatever back-end work needed
    - Adequate CSS/HTML skills to create a custom Joomla site

What I need:
    - The best choice for streaming content that can be archived and downloaded (mp3) by users. Icecast? Shoutcast?
    - To know whether Joomla is the best choice for the front-end. Some folks recommend Drupal, Wordpress, etc. I'm most familiar with Joomla but I'll consider switching if I have to.
    - Explicit tutorials for anything technical/server-side.

I've been Googling for days and haven't found any solution that quite matches my needs. I'm evaluating the Podcast Suite extension but it's unclear to me how to integrate a streaming element. I found this on the forums, but it's in French :( I know with more web searching I'll zero-in on the right info. But I'm under somewhat of a deadline, if anyone can recommend reliable software/tutorials, you will save me a lot of hair-pulling.

Thank you for your time!

Upon further inspection I believe I am looking for the following:

An audio player that I can embed inside a module that can play either live streaming or an archived .mp3, depending on which link a visitor clicks on. For example, a "Listen Live" link and a "Previous Show" link.

I've been searching the web, but have not found a product that explicitly does this. Has anyone accomplished this (or the rough equivalent of this) on their website?

Please help! Thanks!!!

Have you tried the KessefBrasil radio/streaming apps for this? I'm investigating options, too.

No - Kessef is about the only & best app that integrates with Joomla.
