Change Joomla's language

Post by ionefs » Thu Feb 16, 2012 12:15 pm

Hi,

I need to write a system pluguin that allows me to change the language of Joomla, that is, Joomla interpreted that language has changed.

System - Language Filter does not help me because I need to integrate it with gTranslate extension so that when translated my website with gTranslate also changes Joomla language language.

Could you give me some ideas of how I can do this?

Thanks.

GTranslate will not let you use your site language pack. I uses Google to translate what ever is on your page as a whole.

gTranslate managers have told me that I can write a system plugin which will use glang session variable set by GTranslate and change the Joomla language.

They say if I change the Joomla language after GTranslate have done it's job.

I have to create this pluguin because there is a conflict with another component.

I need to use for my website gTranslate because it allows you to modify the translations. Also, using the method Multilanguage Joomla would be very difficult because I have many files and many languages (11). Would have to repeat each item (menus, categories, articles, etc), this would be very complicated.

Indeed native multilang is 2.5 is not usable for too many languages and too many contents.
GTranslate managers are very nice. Why don't they write the plugin if they know how to do it?

If you could guide me to make a simple pluguin to change the language of Joomla, then I'll try that gTranslate managers help me integrate it with their component.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but I just need to create a small module to change the language of Joomla. No need to translate, only than Joomla interprets that the language has changed.

Hi,

I need to write a system pluguin that allows me to change the language of Joomla, that is, Joomla interpreted that language has changed.

It is not necessary that the pluguin translate the content, only to change the language.

Again, Ionefs, such a plugin, if even feasible, can only be made as a supplement to Gtranslate.
I quote you
"which will use glang session variable set by GTranslate"

So you need someone that will study how GTranslate works, and then make a specific plugin based on this, if possible.
