I read this topic and understood that it's impossible :(

http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=617&t=655586

It will be possible in next versions?

As I know this feature was available in Joomla 1.7.3 (in SYSTEM - LANGUAGE FILTER --> Remove URL Language Code.). Also I remember that there were some problems with sitemaps if this feature was enabled.

Why in doesn't work in joomla 2.5.1. ?

It does in 2.5.1
Look at
http://multilingual.demojoomla.com/

English is set as default site language and url language code is removed.

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

Ok ... I found that on the Firefox 3.6. and other browser (latest chrome and IE 9) the web page loads fine. But at home, I have firefoox 4.0 and the error you mentioned is displayed when I want to load the page.

I don't know what is wrong, but if I turn off plugin - language filter off the page displays correctly.

I am searching for solutions...

I have the feeling your may be using some SEF component and some redirects which are wrong.

I am not using any SEF extensions.

I only saw the joomla 2.5. native component "redirect" ?! What is this for ?

However the site works now (the problem with firefox is gone), but default language url prefix isn't removed (I have enabled - Remove URL Language Code).

Strange things are happening

In my Joomla 2.5.4 I have set english as default language, still, all the urls have the /en/ in it... However, it must be possible as http://multilingual.demojoomla.com/ doesn't have the url language code in it with the default language.

Is it a redirect trick in .htaccess maybe?

The question is, how do I get rid of the /en/ ?

Anyone?

Thanks!

Please post here a screenshot of the languagefilter plugin parameters as well as a screenshot of the Site language Manager.

Also, please replace the languagefilter.php file.
