I am very new to Joomla and I am looking at migrating from e107. I just installed joomla 2.5 and I have it up. just I am working on uploading a template and I hit a brick wall.

It is a LCARS theme that I had downloaded from

Code:
http://www.joomla24.com/remository/Download/Joomla_1.0.x_Templates_II/General_Joomla_Templates/LCARS.html

I tried to upload the zip file using the extension manager and I got this error message.

Code:
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file

So then I followed instructions on installing it via ftp through directory

Code:
joomla/templates/lcars

Still it isn't showing up on Template manager.

The list of files in the lcars theme folder are
Files
Code:
templateDetails.xml
template_thumbnail.png
index.php

Folders
Code:
css -> template_css.css
images
|---|
head.gif
lcars_r1_c1.gif
lcars_r3_c1.gif
lcars_r11_c1.gif
nxtgen.mid

I am not sure if it is me or if it is the theme. I am really not sure what else to do at this point and could use any help with this.

The latest version of Joomla! is 2.5.1. Suggest installing this version.

As for a the template (as you referenced theme) goes, you could only install templates that are Joomla! 2.5 compatible, or at least Joomla! 1.7 compatible.

The template, what you are trying to use is compatible with Joomla! 1.0. So, it won't get installed in a site built using Joomla! 2.5

What version of Joomla! have you installed?

What is your site's URL?

Where have you downloaded this template from?

When I searched in the Web, I noticed that the template lcars is meant for Joomla! 1.0 and Joomla! 1.5 Legacy.

If this is the case then you have to enable the plguin "System - Legacy". You have to go to the Plugin Manager to enable this plugin.

I downloaded and tested the template on my end and it definitely has issues.

Those 2 files it is expecting is not in 1.5 - or, not at least in the same name.

I would suggest searching for another template.

Dayna, it's not easy to say what you need to fix.

That template is for old joomla which is different from new joomla :)

Difference between version 1.0 and 1.5 are big and if you don't have expirience you can't make adjustment for old template to work in new joomla.

Easy fix don't exist.

Better find other template which you can install in your version of joomla.

Every start is hard.
Probably your very familiar with e-107.
Because you are absolute beginner in Joomla you found that using joomla templates is complicated. If you spend some time with Joomla you will found that Joomla is very good cms with a lot of extension and resources.
