Aloha there,
we have this customer who must manage a fairly large menu structure through multiple languages. Since the whole menumanager is somewhat tedious - we built him this small plugin, dynamically extending the thing to show an ordered (sub) tree per language, and a quicknav thingy.

So the main question would be - is Joomla! interested in having something like this in the core?
I'd love to move it from the plugin to something more proper, but can't stand touching core files for single installations (but would love to have the functionality available on all our clients' sites).

In more detail:
The whole frontend part is post-added by javascript (jquery) as to integrate with but not touch the core, and there are some rpcs involved and stuff. Currently the main functionality is to have a more compact way of navigating only parts of the menu, and the associated substrees in other languages.
Associated Items are highlighted when present, and drag 'n drop reordering is prepped, but not finished since I didn't want to put stuff into a plugin which belongs inside a model.
The quicknav is simply a small css menu in front of the filter dropdowns in the normal view, representing all menus and items to quickly access and open without searching for them. Oh, currently works since 1.5, still does in 2.5.1
