I carefully read the TOS for reviews. I gave a product 2 stars because of it's potential to "404" a web page if the site administrator is not careful. Essentially: "It works as advertised if you use it as advertised. If you allow your editors to setup or modify the wrong thing in an article, the page becomes inaccessible."
I got an email from the developer's support team yesterday complaining about my review. He had some valid concerns and comments about my implementation. I went to re-read my review in his context and it had been deleted.
Today, I get an email from the developer's Director of Technology looking to address the issues raised by my review. He's asked me to provide a copy of my review so we can address the failures of their product identified in my review. Well, I can't do that once an approved review is pulled.
Is there any way for me to get a copy of my review? I'd like to help them get their product right.
I understand that the JED does not offer explanations regarding the rejection of reviews:
viewtopic.php?f=262&t=626848"1. We do not currently have a system in place to debate reviews. Review moderation is currently at the discretion of the JED team."
I wouldn't expect anything different, then, when the review has been approved, shows up on the product page, and is then deleted by the same JED that approved it. I'm sure they had a good reason even if they won't share it.
If it is too much to ask that we be notified when reviews are deleted, perhaps we can get a copy of the review when it has been submitted. Or at least when it has been approved.
I really don't feel like re-reviewing the product for the developer. I did it once already. I tested their product under a variety of parameters detailing the results of each permutation in my review. "Your product is only worth 2-stars because..." All I can do now is offer some off the cuff comments about what I remember being insufficient about their product. I'm going to come off sounding like I didn't do my homework and they're not going to get the chance to assess my findings.
I don't expect to get an answer, I just think that giving us a copy of our approved reviews would be a good idea.
