How to Copy Template in 2.5.3

Hi sorry if this is a daft question but I am totally new to Joomla.

I want to experiment a little with the default template Beez_20 but do not want to do anything to alter the original template so want to create a copy to work with. All the info I have found so far says basically to copy the template folder and edit the templateDetails.xml file of the copied template. I've done that but the 'new' copied template just doesn't show up in the Template Manager.

Can someone please tell me (or provide a link) how to copy a template and actually see/select it.

Try the following:

Go to the Extension Manager, click on the tab titled Discover. Follow the instructions.

Many thanks I did previously try that without success.

I now find that Extension Manager 'Discover' button results in a 'No extensions have been discovered' screen but then clicking on the 'Discover' button (upper right) on that same screen does find it - weird.
