Hi I just installed Joomla 2.5.3 full package, unfortunately when I tried to create a new menu item, the "menu item type - select button" was totally inactive, I mean I wasn't able at all to select a menu type. Besides this problem I couldn't select module position for the Menu module. I can open the screen to choose between positions, but when I click on the position I prefer, It won't close or save the position (nothing happens). I was using Wampserver, then I tried XXAMP, I still encountered the same problem. I also tried Joomla 2.5.1, I still encountered the same problem. Could somebody please help. I am working on a Virtuemart Website.

Bernard

Thanks

Changed the Subject from all Uppercase (JOOMLA 2.5.3 'MENU ITEM TYPE SELECT BUTTON PROBLEM') to Mixed Case (Joomla 2.5.3 'Menu Item Ttype Select Button Problem').

Double click on the items you want to select and see what happens.

Curing the installation, in the first step whether you had all the recommended settings for PHP?

Try to rewrite the files (including the sub-directories) of the directory \administrator and see what happens. You have to download the stable full version of Joomla! you are using, extract the file, and then copy the files including sub-directories. Make sure to overwrite the files.

I am having the same issue with an inactive select button. When I click check boxes, they show up as clicked, but if I try to update/clear cache or delete, I get a message that says "Please first make a selection from the list"

Also, the top check box that should select all, gets checked but does not select all.

Same problem. The 'select' button does not work to choose a menu type. I'm using J2.5.3 and I just upgraded from j1.5.25. Has anyone figured this out yet?

Ok, if more than a couple of people are having the same issue, this may be a bug. I suggest everyone search on the related forum. I will do that and create a new post if there are no answers there.

I'm no wizard, but I had the same problem and resolved the issue by using a different browser. I was using Google Chrome and the Select button did nothing. I enabled popups as suggested by another user, but it didn't help. I tried using Internet Explorer and it works fine.

I had this problem. I temporarily deactivated mootools, and was able to select the article and make the new menu item. I then reactivated mootools, and had the problem again.

I see a reinstall in my future, but in a pinch, this seems to be a crazy workaround.
