Center a module in position 0?

Trying to get an ad banner to display centered in position 0, above logo and search box. How best to achieve? What files need to change?

I updated those files, still no display.

Is there some file in a non-template folder that needs a new module declaration?

What Template colour are you using?

Personal, very customized. I solved the issue via admittedly inelegant code.
