I've got SAudio player plugin installed and the player icon working on the page, I just can't get it to play the songs. I have a feeling it has to do with where my 'music' folder is loaded.
I went to media manager and added a folder called music under this directory public_html/images/music. I put the song in there and it didn't work.
I also tried adding the folder under 'stories' with the directory public_html/images/stories/music. Loaded my song, but it didn't play.
Should the parameters default folder be adjusted from just saying 'music'?
Where exactly should the music folder be loaded so SAudio Player can find them?
I'm unclear on #2 in the instructions. #1 & #3 I've got down.

Quote:
1.Install and enable SAudioPlayer plugin
2.If use local mp3 file, create a new folder inside your Joomla folder called music.upload mp3 file to this folder.or update the Path from plugin parameters accordingly.
3.Add {saudioplayer}song.mp3{/saudioplayer} in your article

Thanks in advance for your time - it's frustrating b/c it's the last thing I need to get done on the site before publishing it.

BTW, I did change the path in the {saudioplayer}song.mp3{/saudioplayer} code to point to the song - I didn't forget that part.

With the default folder setting of music the the MP3 files should be here:
joomla_root/music/

The instructions are a bit confusing.
With the lack of proper punctuation and grammar it is hard to tell what is meant.

Hi,
I am a new user of joomla 1.7 and unfortunately I have a problem with Saudioplayer extension. I installed the plug-in, activated and installed my song in the folder images/music/nameofthesong.mp3 then I opened the song in URL and finally I copied address and put inside the article. I'm currently working on localhost, so the url is: {saudioplayer autostart}file:///C:/XAMPP/htdocs/joomla17/images/music/nameofthesong.mp3{/saudioplayer}. Is that ok? What I'm doing wrong?

Thank you in advance for any kind of suggestion and help. I'm struggling with it too long.

Kind regards

Thank you for taking the time to replay to my problem. I've changed the default MP3 file location as you suggested, however on the website still displays only

{saudioplayer autostart}file:///C:/XAMPP/htdocs/joomla17/music/breathe.mp3{/saudioplayer}.

What else should I do?

1. Enable the plug-in
2. It knows the path, just give it the file name.

{saudioplayer autostart}breathe.mp3{/saudioplayer}

Look at the examples given in the plug-in description area..

What can I do now?

Thank you very much for your help!

I am having a similar issue with getting the player to actually appear. I have enabled the plugin but it still shows the coding with the brackets. Any ideas?

There are a few reasons Joomla will not replace the tag or brackets code:
- the plug-in is not enabled
- another plug-in is competing for the same tag (Joomla sees the conflict and does nothing)
- the tag or bracket code itself is broken and/or contains "bad" characters

You need to provide more specific information about set-up, the exact tag used, etc.
And a link to the page.

Hi... My hosting co is BlueHost, and my Joomla installation does not have a joomla17 folder. I tried creating the music folder at the / level, and at the next level: public_html, (which is where all my files are, including images). The plug in is installed and it invited me to "update the path from plug in parameters" but I can't find how to do that. Thanks for looking at this.

Where is the MP3 file now?
What is the direct URL to the MP3 file?

Please post a link to the page with the player.

Links to your web server control panel and FTP have nothing to do with this.
I asked for a link to the MP3 file.

The player on that page is not even the SAudioPlayer, it is a different player.
http://dickinsondulcimer.com/modules/mod_nmap/mod_nmap.xml

Why are you asking about that module in this thread?
This is a completely different extension.

That is a commercial player extension.
Ask them how it works.
There is no MP3 specified in the embed code, so it is not configured properly.

You are correct. I apologize. I gave up on the SAudioPlayer and downloaded a commercial player. SAudioPlayer instructions say to put the mp3 files in a directory in the Joomla17 directory. I don't have one of those. I called my hosting co. (BlueHost) and they didn't have any idea what that is. I just couldn't find where to put the directory and mp3 player. I was just trying to get some help.

By the way, my mp3 file is on BlueHost's server, so I don't know how else to give you a link to the mp3 file.

My mp3 is saved at dickinsondulcimer.com/music. The mp3 file I am trying to play is Angels.mp3. I have embedded the code exactly as instructed at

http://dickinsondulcimer.com/index.php/ ... click-here

On that page, you will see the code, but not the player. This is where I was when I sent you the previous message. Can you help me get the player to load and play Angels.mp3? Thank you.

I took the code out and put it back in, and the player now appears, but won't play the file! See the player at:

http://dickinsondulcimer.com/index.php/ ... click-here

If you could help me figure out how to make this play the song, I would be very grateful.

Looks like the MP3 is in the right place:
http://dickinsondulcimer.com/music/Angels.mp3

It appears the plug-in is not enabled because I can see the code not the player.
{saudioplayer}Angels.mp3{/saudioplayer}

Make sure the plug-in is enabled in Extensions > Plugin Manager.

We are making progress! I have the player now displayed on the page, but it won't play. The mp3 is in the correct folder. When I try to click the play button, it does not make it play. I have latest version of Adobe Flash Player. Thank you for helping me with this.... the page where the player is displayed is

I am having a similar issue with getting SAudio player to play the MP3 file. I have a Aplus.net Host install of Joomla 1.6.1 and do not have an obvious Joomla folder. I have tried many locations for the music file with the same effect (buffering...error). My best guess was the following location "/private/joomla/music/" but no luck.

Any ideas?

Location "/private/joomla/music/" is a server file system path.
You need to use a web server URL path relative to your domain root.

The player is currently looking for the MP3 here:
http://guardiandallas.com/music/Marvin%20Gaye%20-%20I%20Heard%20It%20Through%20the%20Grapevine.mp3
That link is a 404.

***** Manual signatures are NOT allowed *****

Firefox HttpFox extension

The Firefox HttpFox extension is very useful for troubleshooting media player issues.
That is what I used to analyze this issue.

With this tool you can see where the player is actually looking for the media file.
This can point out plug-in configuration issues.

HttpFox download
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/httpfox/

I too am having issues configuring SAudioPlayer (and every MP3 extension I've tried). After going through your instructions above, it still doesn't seem to find my audio file. It looks blank, but if I right-click where the player should be it gives me an "About Adobe FlashPlayer ..." option. So, something is there. Any more suggestions?

Here is the page: http://www.dedejones.org/ja_lead/index. ... &Itemid=73

As a follow-up, I used the HttpFox download you recommended to see where the player is looking for the file. It said: file=http://www.dedejones.org/ja_lead/music/Blessed_Assurance.mp3 which is where I have the file.

So, I'm not sure what the issue is.

@jeffjonz
It appears your server security settings are preventing the plug-in from working.
On some servers they block a URL added to another URL as this is how some hacks work.
But fortunately this is also how some media players are configured.

This link is in the embed code:
http://www.dedejones.org/ja_lead/plugins/content/saudioplayer/niftyplayer.swf?file=http://www.dedejones.org/ja_lead/music/Blessed_Assurance.mp3
In HttpFox you can see that link shows a 403 result code (which is 403: Forbidden).
Click on the link above and you will see the error.

You can ask your host to allow that link (they have to change a mod_security setting).
Or use a different player which puts the media link in the flashvars, not appended to the player SWF URL.

Hmmm . . . the player SWF link is also a 403.
http://www.dedejones.org/ja_lead/plugins/content/saudioplayer/niftyplayer.swf
That link alone should work.

You may also have file ownership issues.
Again, ask your host why you cannot access that file.
.

I'm in as much a mess as many here. my site caribbeankitchen.co.uk is hosted by HostGator, I have published the front page after installing sAudioplayer. It is visible on the base of the front page and says 'Buffering' but cant seem to find its way. I tried EVERYTHING I could think of as a newbee. FAILED. Then I instant chated HG, who's Opp advised that Joomla was the source of the problem, blocking the action for some security protocol AND that I needed to setup a subdomain and install the .mp3 file there. THAT is NOT what I've seen in the tutorial. Going crazy here, please help.

In Article: {saudioplayer autostart}David Rudder - Calypso Music.mp3{/saudioplayer}
Server path: /public_html/templates/theme/Music/David Rudder - Calypso Music.mp3

Tried: www.caribbeankitchen.co.uk//public_html ... usic/David Rudder - Calypso Music.mp3

PS - And many many others.

Obviously you did not try HttpFox as suggested above.
Why are there parts of the server file system path in the URL to the media file?

The default location for the /music/ folder is in the website root.
That would be:
h##p://www.caribbeankitchen.co.uk/music/
not
h##p://www.caribbeankitchen.co.uk//public_html/templates/theme/Music/

On your server file system that would probably be
/public_html/music/

Unless you have changed the default settings in the plug-in, that is where the MP3 files should be located.

Edit - I did find the MP3 file here:
http://www.caribbeankitchen.co.uk/music/David%20Rudder%20-%20Calypso%20Music.mp3

And I now see a different player playing that song on the home page.
