Joomla Hosting

Post by xfsgpr » Sat Mar 10, 2012 8:43 pm

I know this is a non-support forum; so is this question!!

Has Joomla got any plans to allow hosting by people on their servers like WordPress does? I would have thought that the uptake of joomla would be tremendous if people can create their own site on Joomla servers which can then be converted to premium service for a fee. WordPress charges $12 for the service and they have about 35 Million subscribers (out of a total of 75 Million users globally).

In money terms this would be ideal situation to continue supporting of Joomla and to spread it widely!!

Xfsgpr,

We do have this service at http://demo.joomla.org and its a easy process to get your own 30 day trial. In fact, you can get as many 30 day trials as you like. We invite you back to try Joomla over and over until you learn the system, all this is at no cost to you.

We do not offer the service to keep the site online unlimited amount of time. Our model is unlimited 30 day trials and if you want to keep one of them you can backup the site and keep it on your local computer or move it to another host. Additionally if you want to keep the demo site you can upgrade to $19.95 for first site and then $5.00 per additional site. The fee's are per month and if you pay for year you get a discount. What sets us apart from the wordpress system is our world class phone support for Joomla. If you get stuck with our system you get a phone number and ticket system. A Joomla qualified engineer will assist you with your web application over the telephone.

We also provide free training if your just getting started.

You get what you pay for. We provide phone support for Joomla. Do you know any hosting company that picks up the phone and talks Joomla with you?

Yes, you can get SSL and a dedicated IP if you needed. The control panel for hosting is located inside the Joomla site.

Erick,

Dedicated IP is included no additional cost, you will have to request the IP after you signup.
Normal price for 1 year of SSL and fully managed installation is additional one time fee of $75.00.
If you are thinking about getting a plan i'll help you out. Call my extension and I'll get you the SSL at cost with free setup. Ext: 7161

Forgot to ask, I also use Ruby on Rails with Gems like MySQL2 and Mechanize 2.0, and run them using SSH access . Are these features available?
