Running Joomla 1.7.3 on Windows * with IIS 7.

Site address: http://66.194.96.82/

installed Joomla and can access admin section. However, cannot use Akeeba back up due to "output directory is not writable". Cannot access gantry to modify it - I get a 500 error. When going to system info and permissions in Global, none of the directories are writable. Their IT guy swears he set permissions properly.

i also saw where one person removed the htaccess file which helped him in this same scenario, but not so in this case.

Can anyone help???

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

You have to fix these:

System TMP Writable: No
Session Path Writable: No

There values are small:

Max. Upload Size: 2M
Max. POST Size: 8M

Never flag files and folders 777. They will be writeable to everyone. Use 755 and 644.

Who is the owner of the files. I don't if the FPA has failed to pick it up or what.
Owner: 0 (uid: /gid: ) | Group: 0 (gid: )

Try to turn SEF off.

Thanks for the reply!!

All permissions were set by system administrator of client. I cannot set permissions as I am not the owner.

But Joomla admin reports all directories as unwritable. I don't understand it.

I just tried to turn off SEF and save, but wold not let me because config.php was not writable.

What is this:System TMP Writable: No
Session Path Writable: No

What should I have there?

Thanks!

They are usually set to c:\windows\temp

Not set in Joomla, but part of server/php setup.

So I will tell them to fix System TMP Writable: No and Session Path Writable: No and start from there.

Thank you for your replies!! I appreciate the help. Here is their response:
--------------------------------
I checked and the CATFHT account has full rights in the TMP folder. I used FileZilla as you had asked in an earlier email and set all of the folders you listed to 755. Attached is a screenshot showing the resulting rights configuration when using 755. As you can see the Owner has Write rights, Groups and Public do not have Write rights. I do not know what account needs Write rights to the TMP folder. Please advise.
--------------------------------

Who should have rights to these folders?
He says the group has rights already, and claims all permissions are set to 755 with FileZilla. He says owner has rights but not groups or public.

How can FPA show all directories as 777 and Joomla admin shows nothing writable? This is crazy.
