I have having problems with the login module, the create account is stuck on loading, but the account is created in the back-end.

Forgotten username, Forgotten password stays stuck on loading and email is not sent to the user.

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems here.

Is this a new installation of Joomla or a site that has been running for a while?

Does the problem occur on another computer, or just on yours?

And is this on a web server somewhere, or are you working on a "localhost" type of installation?

Well, it is probably trying to send an email, but failing (because your localhost probably does not have a mail server running).

So, no email will be sent. But generally, this gives a message like "An error was encountered while sending activation notification email" rather than getting "stuck."

Either way ... don't worry about it on localhost.

And, if you are using Joomla 1.7, be sure to update to Joomla 2.5.4 (or later). That is the foundation to use for sites as there are some security issues with 1.7.

so how do i solve the problem of it getting stuck on loading. How is a mail server created is this done when it is uploaded on a web server (does a host like GoDaddy deal with this).

Also when a account is created - it creates the account in the back-end but is stuck on loading so the user does not know if the account is created.

When you have the site up on the web, the mail server (or the sendmail function of the server) handles this for you.

But, if you create accounts on localhost, then new users do not get notified of their accounts.

You could try using the smtp sending method ... and specifying a true mail server up on the web somewhere.

But I guess my question is, why notify people that they have an account on a website that does not yet exist on the web?

Or am I misunderstanding something?

so i wanted to show that a user receives a email if they have forgotten username, password.

So does the login module only work when on web server?

No, it works on localhost.

But the sending of emails to newly registered users and password reminders, etc., does not work on localhost unless a mail server is set up or configured (which is relatively unusual).

Correct. It should work when on a web server.

The host provides those services.
