Google has indexed some links to my site that do not make sense. I never linked to these anywhere within my menu system. However, the links actually work! It seems that joomla is making up pages that combine my sections and categories. Please help!

Example: Google shows this URL
/student-life/113-academics/library

On this page shows a list of some of the sub links that appear on the library page with an intro description. The bottom shows More Articles and Sub Categories.

The problem is that "student life" and "academics" are both top level category items. Academics is NOT a sub category of Student life.

How did this get created and how do I fix it? Many instances of this are popping up in google for my site. Strange weird URLs being created and out ranking the correct URL.

Please help!

I got a similar problem..

Menu is as follows:

News
+- Latest news

News = Menu Item Alias (points to Latest news)
Latest news = Category Blog

The normal url is: /news/latest-news

But at google a strange url is listed: /news/34-other-menu

When you open this link it will show a page with the pages of all the sub menus of this "34-other-menu".

Does anybody know what the problem is and how this can be fixed?

I have looked again and the problem is as follows:

I got two toplevel categories: category1 and category2
Google has indexed urls that looks like: /menu2/1-category1

The category has no relation with the menu.

When you click this link a page is showing all the articles from category1.

Please help, because this really messes up the website. And several url's already been indexed, while they don't appear in the sitemap.

I think that this is the same problem as what's being discussed on this other thread. I just posted a detailed comment about it:
