I can't seem to upgrade from joomla 2.5.3 to 2.5.4. I tried the automatic update via the control panel but it failed. Following that I wasn't able to access back-end of my site (500 Error message) and I had to restore the previous configuration by reuploading the administrator directory from joomla 2.5.3 package via ftp. This time I made a backup of the site. I tried uploading the upload patch zip file in extension manager but I get the message:
-1 - An error has occurred.
Copy failed

Can anyone help? Do I need to change some permissions somewhere?

unfortunately i am in the same predicament as you. i am able to update all other components via the joomla updater. All of my persmissions are writeable (according to joomla system info).

Hopefully there is a resolution.

I am also experiencing the same problem with the Joomla updater (in the Joomla control panel). Have no such issues when installing plugins or components...

Would very much appreciate a solution to this...

It's very frustrating since the menu association slider is missing in my version of joomla meaning that I can't produce a multi-language version of the site, which is crucial to my business. My only choice is to upgrade, but that doesn't even work. Unfortunately, help with these issues is not very forthcoming on this forum.

Yes, as I stated before, everything seems to be 'ticking' as it should (i.e CB, Kunena etc.)...

AKEEBA ADMIN TOOLS component made the upgrade without any trouble. I am wondering if there is some conflict between the Akeeba component and the Joomla core component.

Either way, if you are not familiar with the Akeeba admin tools component, perhaps installing it will help you in this case. and the Joomla core component.
