I have this issue too on Joomla 1.5.

I have enabled FTP on many sites because I sometimes get install problems, or cleaning the cache, or cant update the config file if its not writeable, things like that.

I have this one site now that has all these FTP logs, I had no idea Joomla uses the FTP on a website access request.

Does anyone know why this is? It needs to be documented that if you use FTP it may slow down the site. I have to go back and disable it on all my other sites.
