How to use an animated gif in a banner module

My gif displays but doesn't animate. I'm using a template (Yootheme's Big Easy). I've seen many similar issues but no solutions that work for me. The gif was selected in the Banner component and then I created a banner module using the animated gif banner. The banner module is in the topa position just under the menu bar. I don't want to create a custom html module because I need the click and impressions count. Any solutions would be appreciated - thanks.

Perhaps you could try inserting it into the custom banner code rather than adding it via the selection.
