Hello --

We are running a site on the 1.5.15 engine. The URL in question is the following:

http://gray.mgh.harvard.edu

A request was made to have a webpage that is independent of the Joomla site, but resides on the same server, and uses the same domain. The proposed naming convention to be used for the latter site is the following:

http://gray.mgh.harvard.edu/humanresources

What is the procedure, if it is possible, for creating the independent page within the Joomla application? Thanks.

Could you explain more about what do you mean by independent webpage? Is it a system or just a html page? Does this webpage/system has an URL?

Hello --

Thank-you for your reply. The page in question is simply an html page with links to downloadable files.

The intended URL for the page is the following:

http://gray.mgh.harvard.edu/humanresources

The URL of the page in question is based off the existing URL:

http://gray.mgh.harvard.edu

You could create a new menu item of the type iframe Wrapper and provide the link to the page.

Hello --

The person in charge of the server does not want any reference to the new page on the current one. The only way people are to get to the new page is if they specifically type in the URL that I mentioned in a previous posting. The addition of the menu item would run counter to the preferred method.

Create the menu item and test it out. Once completely tested, create a new menu (say Hidden Menu) and move the menu item tested to the Hidden Menu. This way, no one will see the menu item.
