We have been through situations, when we receive weird reviews, out of no where, who has bought our products.

For example, we received a review from a user, so we match it with our customer base to see, who has posted it. So, lets say, we receive a bad review, and we match it with our sales list, but it doesnt match .

So, how do we go on with the customer to provide him support , as it happens sometime that, users dont contact the support for help, and proceed with a review which has no meaning or which is normally covered under the protection plan (support heldesk).


Like we received a review yesterday, and it was clear, the user dint contact the support, before posting it, so we would normally want to contact the user personally and ask them their problem, so we could solve it and then ask them to report the review to be removed.

But right now, I dont see a method, how to make that happen.

Hi,

as far as I know you can report the review and in the report, ask the jed team to contact the reviewer to connect with you.

Same thing here. We received a review from a person that never asked for support, filed a claim with PayPal then got mad
about it. Later, he wrote a review just to get revenge and cause damage. Everything posted was false and inaccurate.

Following the JED TOS :
"If you believe that a review contains incorrect information, please contact the Joomla! Extensions Directory team using the contact information provided below. If a review poses a problem in some way, the review will be pulled offline. An investigation will follow and after which the review will be kept offline or it will be put online again, as determined in our sole discretion."

I've reported that review and provided proof, explained my part the best I could. I don't think anybody read my report because nothing happened for three weeks now.
While I don't expect every review to be a 5 star, I am trying to make a difference between a "less-than-favourable", argumented review and a rant based on lies, frustration and revenge.

You, as a developer, are asked to obey JED TOS but everyone else can post anything they want about your extension (sometimes, even if they haven't even used/evaluated it), not to mention the blackmail from some customers : "Refund me or I'll write a bad review on JED!"

Unfortunately, we don't have any defence against such reviewers.

hi,
I faced this issue too.
Until now I never got any replay from JED team on "Review Report" button (someone write a total un-true review about free extension I provide, in addition that if his review has true, then the extension should be removed from JED immediate cuz it meant the the extension is passed JED rules.

In addition look at this - viewtopic.php?f=262&t=712844
on the same extension one user post a bad review it has been published in 3 hours.. other user post a good review, and it hasn't been published in nearly 2 weeks ! (and not published yet).
I never got a response about those issues from JED team.

This way, anyone can post a review without buying an extension, just to take down your reputation , which is totally wrong.

I don't think you can get an answer or further help after you've reported that review. It's up to the editors to investigate,
and with 9000+ extensions listed, might take a while or forever. We're at the mercy of the team.
You are clearly asked to send the report ONCE, otherwise ... it could lead to a warning, suspension, I don't know. :D
Also note this important part : "...as determined in our sole discretion."

True, but we cannot do anything about it.

If there is someone who actually managed to get a "strange" review removed, please enlighten us.

I got hit with a bad review also. Have gotten nothing but 5 stars this putz gave me 2 starts. He complained it was flexible, limited options, etc. My component is a fork of an older component. I have spent the last year developing it for 2.5, make vast impovements to make it adaptable with parameters to eliminate programming by the individual. Spent a lot of time correcting numerous bugs. I don't believe they ever contacted me, I don't believe they bought it from me, therefor couldn't install it.
I checked their other reviews they all were done on the same day, for similar components except mine was the only commercial component, the others were free. They gave everyone 2 stars except the component that mine is a fork of, gave them 5 stars. But you can't do anything about it. I responded to the review and have not gotten a response also reported the review and no response from the JED people.
Very frustrating. But I guess one just goes on and forgets about these morons.
Thanks for letting me vent.
