I would like to disable the Password and Email Address Verification fields when a user registers on my Joomla 2.5 site and instead the user would only have the following fields to complete:

Name, Username, Email and Password

Is there a simple way to achieve this?

Thanks,
James

I might be wrong, but I'd guess that would mean a core modification, which is something you want to avoid. It's not really worth it and trust me, taking that out will only lead to more administration on your part as you deal with "I entered my email wrong" or "I can't figure out my password" issues.

The user would still receive an email/username/password verification email and have the ability to recover them. I just don't see the need for the user to have to enter his/her email and password twice. Not only does it absorb a lot of space on ones website but it also also redundant information.

Neither Facebook or Twitter require this level of self authentication... it should be an option.

I know it is a possibility but being a 1.5 buff I can not begin to figure out over night how to accomplish such a task in 2.5.

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,
James

And when they mis-type thier email and don't realize it until after they hit submit? It's your choice though, just thought I'd point that out, but sounds like you've thought it through...

I agreee with your argument, it may not be the best solution.

Is there an equal or better alternative to multiple fields such as this? I want the best/easiest solution for my web audience. Ease = New Users...
