Just installed v2.5.4, but I cannot get pass the database configuration.
I've tried both database type options: (MySqli/Myql)
username: "root" or database username.
passowrd: (empty) or (database password)

it just says:
"Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Unable to connect to the Database: Could not connect to MySQL."

Need more information such as

(a) Are you installing in a localhost or remote host?
(b) What is the host name you are using?

On a remote host, you have to create a MySQL database, create a user, assign the user to the database, GRANT all privileges to the user.

You will be providing the password to the user when creating the user.

Use the username and password of this user you have created.

As the steps outlined above are not standard across the host services, you have to refer the documentation of the host services about this.

hi
I've managed to get pass that stage now. thanks
I've also deleted the installation file.
but how do go to the backend.
I've tried typing the following in the url:
www(site)/administrator/index.php?option=com_login

But this is taking me to the site where I purchased my domain name from?
I have also changed the DSN name servers to my hosting site, but still this issue?

Now I have another issue,
I can log into the backend, but I cant see the joomla site when I type my url.
if i type the www(mysite).co.uk it takes me to where i registered my domain.
If I type in (mysite).co.uk it takes me to the hosting company.
What could be the problem here?
really appreciate your help.
Thanks
