Hi everybody,
first of all thanks to the community for this great work !
I have a problem. I've created a site with the search box in the banner and some news flash for the front page.
Unfortunately, when you enter a question in the search box, the news flashes always appear. That make the result of the search not appearing.
I've told the news flashes to only appear in the home page menu but it doesn't
work for the search result :(
you can try it by yourself at http://www.ens-lyon.fr/LIP and typing "damien" in the search box.
Does anybody have a solution ?
Please help me ;)
Cheers,
jc

Depends on the features you are using. It might be the code that is conflicting. Without knowing what newsflash system you are using and search system you are using it's tough to say. Can you please upload a screenshot of the issue you are running into. This is tough to imagine what is happening because i can't see it from my side, as it's a little unclear what i'm looking for.

Thanks

I'd love to send you a screen shot, but you won't see anything since the problem is that we don't see the result...
Please try http://www.ens-lyon.fr/LIP and type "damien" in the search box on the top right. The result of the search will appear below the news flashs even though this module (news flash) is only assigned to the home page...
Thanks for your reply !

precision : we don't see the results of the search because the windows is to small. We have to use the scrolbar on the right...
thanks again !

Hi,
I finally got a solution (quite unsatifying) and an explanation.
I tried to add a "search" menu item ("search form or search result" type) in the main menu. Then, my search box *did* work correctly i.e. the news flashes disapear when the result of the search is displayed.
My explanation is that since mu search box is in a module (not a menu entry), when the result is displayed the news flashes still there (joomla considers that we are still in the home page where the news flashes have to be displayed). But when a search menu entry exists, joomla considers that we are in a "search form or search result" page, where news flashes don't have to be displayed. Hence the news flashes are no more displayed, the result is moved to the top of the content area and so become visible !
This is not very satisfying since there are now 2 ways to search in my site which can be confusing for users but at least less confusing than the previous situation.
Thanks for your posts !
jc
