without going into detail about why, i basically need an editor that translates text from Word as accurate as possible. so my client can just copy from word and paste into the editor and click save.

my few favorite editors don't seem to do this well.

I have not used the latest version of Word, but you must have noticed that the style definitions in Word are awkward and make it impossible to edit the HTML source code properly, even if one knows HTML. The best way to handle this is to copy and paste from Word into the Notepad icon in the editor, which cleans Word's methods of styling completely and paste the plain text into the article. This allows the styles defined in the Joomla template to take over and render the pages consistently.

I understand that this can be difficult to explain to your client, but it also puts the onus on you to test and prepare the stylesheets in the client's template and give a bit of guidance how to achieve the best results.

In the TinyMCE editor there is an option to add a Word Document directly.

  1. Go to the Extensions Menu and select Plugin Manager
  2. Locate the TinyMCE editor in the list and
  3. CLICK on its name.
  4. When the editor settings open - go to the top right of the page and you will see an option Functionality.
    • By default this is set to Advanced. Select the drop down list and choose Extended.
  5. CLICK Save and Close.
  6. Reopen an article

You will now see the default editor has a number of additional buttons including one for the Word and one for Excel from Microsoft. I am unsure if they work with the new .docx extensions of Word but if the documents are saved in Compatibility Mode it should be ok.
