I can paste the code into a new module and the Paypal button shows but... clicking it sends the person back to my homepage. In pre-1.7 modules clicking the button would send you to Paypal to checkout through the rest of the process.

Seems to be a 1.7 issue and I wouldn't be surprised if there's an easy fix but I haven't figured it out yet.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
VinnyH
PS: seems like most of the non-commercial Joomla extensions for Paypal aren't up to 1.7 versions yet.

More than likely, your editor is "fixing" your code...

Go into your user profile and select "no editor" Then paste the code in and save it.

Then you can turn your editor back on.

I appreciate the thought but it still does the same thing. Click the Paypal button and I just get the homepage in a new window.

I hesitate posting the url yet because if there is a problem and my Paypal code can be seen somehow that wouldn't be good. It's a new Joomla 1.7 install with no modifications other than the template. Most global settings are the basic recommended ones.

I've had Paypal code working on 1.5 and 1.6 sites so I'm thinking it's a new issue with 1.7 code overall.

Thanks again,
Vinny

Hey Vinnie

Just to let you know the Nice Paypal Button Extension is great! -
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... stems/9277

It works perfectly and you can enter your text fields and change buttons whenever you like - well worth the £9 something I paid for it. Also a very good support forum.

Thanks for the tip and positive opinion. I wasn't trying to be cheap. :) That extension is very affordable. I just might get that tonight. I was just hoping Paypal's code would work since it's a small project site.

Best Always,
VinnyH

 :) I just thought I'd let you know as I was so excited (after about 3 evenings wasted) to have found a solution. I'm not a developer either - just build some small sites - although with all the tips I'm picking up here you never know !!

This was driving me crazy. Okay, in Joomla 2.5 go to Global configuration, and that's where you'll find text filtering. Set yourself to "no filtering." It will then work. What was happening was Joomla was stripping out the form action with the Paypal URL part of the code, breaking it. This works fine. YAY!

Thanks,
I'll keep that tip handy for the next time, which might be soon.

If your still working on a small project I can also recommend HikaShop extension. Its easy to configure and intigrates paypal which gives a professional look to your site too.
Best Wishes
Sue
