Hi, I am trying to set up a site. For some reason I no longer can log into the frontend. There is no error message about invalid user/pass, instead the page refreshes. Sometimes the message "Your session has expired. Please log in again." appears when I click login, sometimes not. But in both cases it just returns to the same page.

As you say you "can no longer login to the front end" I assume you have been able to before. If that is so what have you edited or added to the site since? In other words what have you done to the site that could have caused this? Can you login to the backend admin OK?

I have done a lot of stuff, so no chance to find out what exactly that one thing was. Yes I can log into backend.

Then I assume you don't do regular backups of your site?
You don't say which version of Joomla you have installed but if it is the latest version then try this.
Go to Extension manager. Click the Database Tab and in the top right click the fix button. Worth a try!

Using Joomla! 2.5.4.

I should have mentioned that I'm using JFusion. I uninstalled it, and now I am able to log in to front-end. But that leaves me with two new problems:
1) When I try to re-install JFusion through Extension Manager, I get the error message "Another menu item with the same parent has this alias / Error building Admin Menus".
2) When I log in to the front-end, I dont see any admin tools/menus, only the message "Hi Dani" and the logout-button.

[Mod note: Moved from Installation Forum to the Extension Forum as clearly not related to the installation of Joomla! but to the use of the JFusion bridging extension ]

It would appear that you are quite new to Joomla. That being the case, I don't want to sound condescending but I think you will be much better served to learn the core basics of Joomla and what it can do. When you arrive at the point where you want some feature that Joomla does not supply through it's core then that is the time to look for extensions. It is much easier to assess what extensions you need if you have a fair knowledge of the workings of Joomla. You could easily fall into the trap of installing loads of extensions that you may never use just because that look useful and might be needed in the future.
As for you quote at 2) above. All you will see if you login to the front end is the editor icon alongside the Email and Print icons. If you have created menu items that are only visible to logged in people then they will show but otherwise it will be just the greeting that you can see and that editor icon!

Im definitively quite new for Joomla yes. But JFusion is an extension I installed to integrate phpBB, and not just a random extension that I installed because it looked cool.
I have solved 2), I just forgot to place Edit User Profile and Create Article-menus.
I still have problems uninstalling and reinstalling a fresh install of JFusion because of that error message. I tried asking at the JFusion board, but just got a short reply telling me that they don't give support.

So my problem is: when I try to uninstall JFusion in Extension Manager, I get this error message:
Quote:
Error uninstalling .

JFusion Uninstall

Restored normal Joomla login behaviour
Uninstall JFusion User Plugin Success
Uninstall JFusion Search Plugin Success
Uninstall JFusion System Plugin Success
Uninstall JFusion Login Module Success
Uninstall JFusion Activity Module Success
Uninstall JFusion User Activity Module Success
Uninstall JFusion Whos Online Module Success

If I ignore that error message and try to install JFusion after that, I get "Another menu item with the same parent has this alias
Error building Admin Menus".

In an effort to replicate your problem, I have just installed JFusion on my test site and installed phpBB3. I then uninstalled JFusion successfully and then reinstalled it without a problem. So I am guessing that what ever you did after installing JFusion and trying to uninstall is causing the problem. Did you create a menu in this period? Have you got a menu with a link to phpBB3?
I am going to suggest that you set up a Joomla site on a localserver on your PC and carry out this exercise again in an environment that is very easy to scrap and start again without having to be online the whole time. You will find it is much quicker to move from element to element in the backend admin. When you have it all as you want then install Akeeba backup and with Kickstart upload the complete shebang to your host!

Thanks for your time. I have managed to fix both errors now. In case any other have the same problem, to fix the uninstall error, what I was doing wrong was that I was trying to uninstall all jfusion-related extensions at once. Only JFusion must be uninstalled, the others are taken care of automatically. To fix the install problem, I had to uninstall JFusion in extension manager, ignoring the error message, then search the database (especially table j_menu) for "jfusion" and remove those posts.
