I have a sticky problem with the Beez20 template under Joomla 2.5.x, which I have modified slightly to remove/collapse the left column in places. The site has also been upgraded from earlier Joomla versions, in case that makes any difference.

The problem has to do with the right column, however. On two of my many Article Category pages (Articles tab on the top menu), where I have set up a special menu to allow easy selection and movement from one category to another, two of my categories are moving the menu from the right column to below the content. Usually this is due to column-wdith issues, but I can't find the issue!

The other issue I'd like to figure out is the right column not being right-justified. I'd like the content to take up the large left area with the menu on the right (e.g. a collapsable left column and an expanding middle column, with the menus/modules in the right column).

You can view these two links to see the differences:

Good page: http://www.mainemusiciansexchange.org/s ... rtherecord
Bad page: http://www.mainemusiciansexchange.org/s ... meninmusic

The other page that is not working is the /memberofthemonth , and yes, that's me on that page.

I've checked the HTML and CSS, and I can't find the problem! What am I missing?

Thanks.

I'm having the same problem in Joomla 1.7.4 - on certain pages the entire right column of a two-column layout is rendered below the content pane.

The problem appears whichever template is used, but only for one component, which uses category listings. The other pages using category listings are ok.

Looking forward to some answers/suggestions :)

You have a problem with div elements, the pages displaying correctly have div main inside a div wrapper with div right outside of the wrapper, while instead the faulty pages have div right inside the wrapper.

The first thing that comes to my mind is that you should check the articles html and make sure you have opened and closed html elements correctly: You might have inserted or be missing a leading <div ...> or an ending </div> element in your article.

Also make sure that the pages are configured with exactly the same templates and styles.

The article appeared fine, but I noticed there was a READ MORE that appeared inside the first DIV, which apparently was causing the problem. After I removed the DIV the issue was resolved. To test, I moved the READ MORE outside the DIV and things displayed properly.

Thanks for your help!

Glad you solved i, you are welcome.

However even the working page you mentioned above (/fortherecord) has a user read more inserted into it and was/is not having the issue, so I'm not sure there is a bug in the read more code. Could you please try checking that article and creating a new one with a read more tag to see if there is actually a bug?

Well, the actual "bug", if there is one, would be with the editor placing the DIV around the READ MORE code. Or maybe the pasting of the READ MORE into the interior of the DIV. It may well have been the steps in the article editing process or how the text was pasted into the page (human element - both the offending articles were entered by the same person).

What I do see time and time again with other people adding/editing articles is the way in which the text/object inserts and paragraphs are handled. There is no good way to set the editor that works for all article types and pasting options unless you go to the source (HTML) view and dig into the details (DIV, P, BR, etc.), and it is easy to paste into the wrong container when you can't see where that container ends in the WYSIWYG side of the editor.

I can't be sure without further testing, but my concern was just the presentation at this point. If I see it again I'll figure out what the cause is/was. I just don't have time to do exhausting testing with this and my other editors at the moment.
