Hello.I am new to Joomla and I would like to ask you where I could find templates(even to buy with a little charge) that could be supported by this joomla forum. With this I mean that if I have a problem in the code of the theme, could be supported by people from this forum.I want to have a template that i can modify it if I want and also add extensions in it.Any suggestions also in my decision making procedure would be appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Try Artisteer:
http://www.artisteer.com/

They also do free Joomla templates:

How good are you at CSS? Building your own template is really not that hard. The Joomla Template Toolbar in the extensions director is a big help, and there is a good tutorial at http://www.hyde-design.co.uk/joomla-training/building-joomla-templates that explains it very simply. I can usually have a nice template up and running in a few hours. (after doing the visual designing in Fireworks).

I've just recently started considering Joomla since I've just spent the last two months undergoing a complete site redesign. We use Homestead Intuit Websites now. Does anyone have experience with Intuit Websites and, if so, how do Joomla and it compare? I won't list all of my questions but, to make a bunch of long questions one short one, how user-friendly is Joomla, does is support all image and video formats, etc? For example, Intuit doesn't support PNG images....and adding anything other than a static image is a real pain. I have to use Photoshop with a few other image editors to upload designs that it will accept. Feedback from any Joomla newbies and their experiences so far would be awesome. Thanks in advance for the help!

-Daniel

MoonfireArt- I am good at CSS but I would prefer at this point to take a ready template and modify it in some cases.
cmsj- In artisteer I cannot save but I am able to export a template without a problem because of the trial version?
What about if I choose a template from this site http://www.freethemes4all.com/. Is there something that I should notice? And if I choose one that is compatible with version 1.5, what is the difference with version 2.5

You need to select the right version, in terms of templates, as otherwise the template will not work, or there might be issues. Take advice from the website.

You should choose the template from famous Joomla template providers because Joomla user often get template directly from them than from other Joomla template collection websites. And of course they will support you when you get trouble. You can read this article to know the best Joomla template providers: http://speckyboy.com/2011/10/27/best-pr ... providers/

You should use the template for version 2.5 because support for Joomla 1.5 will be end soon, maybe after September 2012. You can read more about it on Joomla magazine. If you've downloaded a template for Joomla v1.5, you can convert it to Joomla 2.5.

Cost22 - I would be very careful when choosing a free template. There are a lot of dirty template providers out there (Though I have no knowledge of the one whose link you provided), but there are a lot of forum threads regarding that issue. Usually it is an issue of hidden links or hidden code. A good first step is to view the link information of the template using the firefox web developer toolbar. If links show up that you can't see on the page itself, you've got problems. Free templates can be a big help, but you have to be very careful.

If you want to be on the safe side, you can try modifying the templates that come with the Joomla core. Those are clean.

Hi,
I would recommend JoomlArt. I used to work with JA Purity II, and also JA T3 Blank (this one is not suitable for you, as far as you want ready template). Even their free templates are quite good, they have built-in css and javascript compression and other useful stuff. However, once I experienced a javascript conflict with other third-party extension. Please note, that I used these templates back in times, running Joomla! 1.5, so I don't know how they work on 2.5

All suggestions are great and I will search. No I don't want to use a free, I just want to make a simple try with a free one.I want to buy one (normal price) but working without any problems. If I select one template, it will have certain places where to put the extensions/plugins, right? For example it will have only left sidebar and I will not be able to put something in right side of the page?

For example I installed properly joomla 2.5, using xampp and I downloaded the "Business Template for Joomla" from http://www.qualityjoomlatemplates.com/ and when I install the template and I go to see the site this error message appears :

Code:
Strict Standards: Non-static method JSite::getMenu() should not be called statically, assuming $this from incompatible context in C:\xampp\htdocs\joomla25\templates\justbusiness-fjt\index.php on line 58

Strict Standards: Non-static method JApplication::getMenu() should not be called statically, assuming $this from incompatible context in C:\xampp\htdocs\joomla25\includes\application.php on line 540

I can't see the primary menu, right and left sidebars are missing , as well as the footer part.
Why is this happenning?

I would suggest a template from RocketTheme. They are extremely simple to customize and have a nice look to them.

cost22... check and see if your error reporting is turn on in global config. Even with a fully functioning Joomla site,If I turn error reporting on, I get about 42 strict standards errors displaying. Turn off error reporting, and they should go away.

I would like to ask about the joomla templates as we previously talked about.
I found some templates on http://www.mixwebtemplates.com/ . Is this site reliable as far as their templates in order to buy from?

@idemsisvoje - Concerning the Joomlart , I also found very interesting designs but I wouldn't like to have a logo on the bottom of the webpage.

You should read the customer testimonials to know why people love the template and the providers. Choose the providers with professional support is the most important. It can save much time for you on site configuration.

Normally template providers will have a page to showcase their customer's websites. You can check how flexible the template can be and visit the website to make sure the template is suitable for you.

FYI: You should read this article to have a quick review for popular Joomla templates: http://www.squidoo.com/9-joomla-templat ... developers You can know the PROs and CONs of each template framework.
