Hello mate,

Well in my point of view, Joomla! is my favorite CMS and i strongly believe that it has a really bright future. Over the past few years we have saw many nice and solid updates, always bringing to the user the latest technology and always stay easy to use.

I think there is not much difference between Joomla and Drupal hence they provide almost same common features but Wordpress is little bit more popular for developing blog and using the potential of large network of blogger whcih you can use for promotion.

Last but not least i strongly suggest you considering learning Joomla! , i have teach many people how to manage it , they always tell me that found it easy, very interesting and fun to play with!

Each popular CMS has its own strengths. A good architect/programer chooses the right CMS for the right project. Wordpress is easier to begin with. The following title is a detailed comparison of four Content Management Systems. You may search for the free PDF.

WORDPRESS, JOOMLA, DRUPAL AND PLONE" by Idealware

Don't limit yourself. There are many open sources web-based tools. Each has it's place. Joomla is a tool. But it's just one tool. Learn them all.

Hi kcchoi79,
Back in the days I started with mambo and switched to Joomla!. Later I explored both Drupal and WordPress, but came back to Joomla!. I my opinion Joomla offers more options and is less confusing for starters. Drupal is very powerful, requires a lot of advance knowledge and it can be heavy for the hosting server to handle if you are on the budget. WordPress is made for bloggers. You can't go wrong with Joomla! and it has a future.

I started playing around with Joomla about a year ago, and have found it really useful to know. Just making simple sites for friends/family and getting money for it. I only do it as a hobby but im sure you can make something of it!

Joomla is considered a more "complex" CMS. I personally have used it for all projects I've used because the general consensus I've gotten was it has less limitations compared to wordpress and drupal. The key is to diversify, never put all your eggs in one basket.

I think you should learn multiple Open Source CMS tools. Joomla is one of them. I only recently joined Joomla, I've been using Wordpress for years before and that is my favourite method but that is more a a blog compared to this.

You can start with Joomla but dont stop there. I would suggest you get familiar with a lot of CMS so you will not limit your capabilities. In terms of making it a career, you can totally do that, in fact a lot of people are already doing it. As of now, the support and community for Joomla is very good so I think its a good time to jump in.

Which is better? It really depends on what you plan to use it for. Each CMS has its own Pros and Cons.

I found this article quite informative http://www.sitepoint.com/wordpress-v-jo ... tructures/
