OK, we have a dedicated server for a site we brought online in the AM and a phenomenon happened that I have never seen happen with Joomla. When we enabled SEF, the server all of a sudden start slowing down fast and the server be non-responsive.

When I looked at the system, I noticed that HUGE MySQL #SQL files were being created. Once I restarted MySQL and got control again, I disabled SEF and it runs normall.

So my question is, what would Joomla to write to TMP tables and cause them to get SO big? I have been building sites on Joomla since before 1.0 was officially out and I have never seen anything like this.

Thoughts, shared experiences, anyone can contract to help out?

Thanks!

Hello,

I have what I believe is the same problem you described. Once again I notice, there is no response from anyone who is part of the joomla development team.

Did you have any success addressing this problem? If so would you mind sharing your solution?

Thanks

What we (really, the team at cloudacces.net) found was that joomla has a LARGE query which displays category content (blog layout, etc) causing big problems for large sites (we have one of those).. The query needs to be split but, I doubt the core team will take time to look into this.

[Mod note: Moved from Admin Forum to 2.5 Bug forum;]

Actually core team are generally busy preparing the code rather than surfing the forums.
If it is not noticed that someone has posted the question, or do not know anything about the issue, or it is posted in the wrong place it may not get any attention at all.
