Hello,
I am trying to login to our Joomla! Administration Login page that we had setup by an external company. It works when I login with a Mac, but doesnt work with a PC. Our marketing people have to be able to login to manipulate the content on our website and they cannot use anything other than a PC. I have tried IE, Firefox and Chrome and clearing the cache without any success. When I login to our site http://mysite.com/administrator/?OURKey it just redirects to http://mysite.com upon successful login with a PC. Are there any settings specific to OS of computer logging into the backend? It might have something to do with the headers after login, but I do not have any idea on where to look. Any help on the topic would be very helpful. Thank you and I look forward to hearing back.
James Johnston

James,

Are you using the built in authentication features of Joomla or a third party extension (gmail, oauth, ldap) to authenticate users?

I believe it is the built in authentication features. I can go into the User Manager and see who has access and their Last Visit and such.

Most likely core authentication, if you go to Extensions > Plugin Manager you should be able to see what Authentication plugins are active. If Joomla is active, select it and change the default re-routing options to see if that changes where you users end up.

'Authentication - Joomla' is the only Authentication Enabled. I have version 1.5.23 of Joomla installed and when I click it to Edit the plugin I only have Name, Enabled, Type, Plugin File, Access Level, Order, Add Description and Parameters(which there are no parameters). It doesnt have the re-routing options here. I am going to try and open the Plugin File(joomla.php) to see if there is anything in there.

So, is this happening when users are logging into the back end Administrators interface, like http://www.mywebsite.com/administrator?

If so, you might need to add the users to the proper groups for back-end access, although that would not explain my Mac users are able to access...

Weird error...

Yeah it is strange. I know the original team that developed the website in Joomla all used Macs so I'm not sure if they set it up to only work on Macs somehow or if it something else. My user is part of the Super Administrator group so it should not be a user group problem. I suppose the next step could be to use some sort of packet sniffer to see what is returned on the PC and see if it returns something different on a Mac. That way we would know if the problem is interpreting the return on the PC side or if the PC is getting sent something different from Joomla(on the Joomla side)?

Quick dumb question, but worth a shot in the dark, have you tried different browsers on the PC?

If you go to the developer tools and console tab, are there any errors?
