I think I need to give up on this one.... it just does not work and there is no support. Shame I thought this would have been the solution for Joomla 2.5 multi language problem. I think just have to come to conclusion that if you want to have site with multiple languages and more content than just few pages then either go with Joomla 1.5 or choose other CMS.

Hi!

I'm using Joomla 2.5 and Falang. I have 4 languages working properly (1 default + 3 others) but I want a 5th one and the index doesn't apper. The other articles are translated and working fine except the index:
Index of /br

Can you, please, help me?

Ok I found out the problem (bug), but at least now I can continue.

If for the first time you translate and if you only translate the subject and put nothing to the main text field and save you will have problem when coming back to the article and translate the main content hit save it will not save the main content. The way around is to save the articles again empty (no subject etc) and do all at once.

I have just installed falang 1.6 on joomla 2.5.6,
When I go to the falang control panel I get the following error:

Code:
500 - An error has occurred.
JDatabaseMySQLi::query: 1061 - Duplicate key name 'combo' SQL=ALTER TABLE `ljqfw_falang_content` ADD INDEX `combo` ( `reference_id` , `reference_field` , `reference_table` )

I have tried uninstalling and installing again, same problem.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Ok, found a fix to my problem:

in administrator/components/com_falang/helpers/controllerHelper.php

comment out lines 112 to 114:

Code:
//$sql = "ALTER TABLE `#__falang_content` ADD INDEX `combo` ( `reference_id` , `reference_field` , `reference_table` )" ;
         //$db->setQuery($sql);
         //$db->query();

I believe the error was with falang trying to add an index to a table, when it was already set, so hopefully this won´t cause any adverse effects, but I don´t know really.

Hello,

I am using the Falang component for an en/gr interchange..I am having trouble making the translation of my menu to appear in english..all other content translation works fine..

I have successfully translated and published all related menu items, as well as related module, and I have also (as suggested by the documentation) changed the Faland plugin to higher priority in case of conflict...

yet still no luck..any suggestions, please?

probably the language of the article is different from the language of the site (the filter plugin FILTERS articles based on language)

Hi, now i have a question.
Can Falang translate the URL?
If yes, could you tell me how?
Thanks

I am interested too.

Is there any solution to that? I guess there must be a way since falang allows to translate the alias

Firstly thanks for great component. It works well and fast without days to understand the configuration, etc
However, maybe due to my first short try on Falang, i do not know how to hide articles which have not been translated yet.
Please advice, thanks.

Hello!

Please add option to redirect after using language Switcher!
If I change language in article witch is in language X than I get error 404, because I have this article only in one language!

I don't use translation for articles only for pages, because I have some articles in language A and som in B, but some articles I have in both, so I use Falang to Switch between languages!

Maybe there is some solution for this problem?

Thank you!

jackass,

with falang, as I understand it, articles and menus are always set to "language = all". They will be written in the main language, then you create translations using falang. If there is no translation for a certain page in a certain language, the page will be shown in the main language. So if you *do* set the language for an article or menu item, you get an error. I only got 404 so far when setting a menu item language.

For me this is a problem, too. I find it irritating when changing the language with the switcher and apparently nothing happens, because there is no translation for a page.
My expected behaviour is to be sent to the home page in the selected language, when the translation is missing. Untranslated pages should not show up in the menu.

Easily ... set a redirection to the homepage for every 404 error (from your .htaccess file)

Not so easy. Because if falang is set up correctly, there will be no 404. Such a redirect would mean to make a mistake on pourpose. And *real* 404s would go unnoticed ... Perhaps still good as a quick and dirty workaround.

The real solution would be if FaLang had an option for this. So I hope that Stéphane hears us ...

Yes, of course it would be much better if it was included in the features.

BTW ... does anyone knows if it is possible to remove from the url the language identifier?

For example, now it is www.site.com/en/some-article.html and www.site.com/ru/another-article.html
Is it possible to make it look like www.site.com/some-article.html and www.site.com/another-article.html

Thanks in advance
Dimitris
