Cannot delete last style of a template
I'm getting the same error message. Looked through the post, but nothing helps. These are siteground templates. I've never had a problem with Siteground before. I have 4 of them. I'm trying to delete 2 of them of which are NOT the default template.
I'm going to Extensions > Template Manager > Styles Tab (that may be the problem) > Check the appropriate template box > hit delete and I get the message: Cannot delete last style of a template.
When I go to the Template tab, it shows the pictures of the templates, but I don't see anywhere to actually delete them from the Template tab I would think that would be the appropriate place, not the Styles Tab.
Edit: I thought I was posting in a thread where this issue was being discussed, but I had to log in first. Then when I logged in, it took me to the "previous page" and a blank post. I posted, but now I see this has been posted as a NEW post.
I'll leave this for now and just note that I had posted it in the "Bug Department" http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f ... 2#p2587452
Maybe someone will have an "easy fix" for this problem. Have never run into this before.
Not sure if it's a bug, a glitch, me, the templates, ?? dunno.

Re: Cannot delete last style of a template
This should do it:
Extensions> Extension manager> Manage> Tick template to be deleted> Click "Uninstall".
Also need to ensure that the template to be un-installed is not a default.

Re: Cannot delete last style of a template
Oh well, but the template still shows up in the "Extensions" --> "Template manager" so the "Uninstall" does not uninstall everything. To me it seems that the database entry still remains.cmsj wrote:This should do it:

So if you for example go to the "Module Manager" and choose a module to edit the "Position" the uninstalled templates still shows up there too.
I'm using 1.7

Re: Cannot delete last style of a template
The uninstall should also delete the entry in the template manager, if it is not doing so, then that is related to your particular installation. Have double checked this and it does delete the template in the template manager.Kengun wrote:Oh well, but the template still shows up in the "Extensions" --> "Template manager" so the "Uninstall" does not uninstall everything.....

Re: Cannot delete last style of a template
Then something is not working at cloudaccess.net, where I just tried this out. I tried to uninstall the pre-installed templates but as said it's still showing up in the template manager.cmsj wrote:The uninstall should also delete the entry in the template manager, if it is not doing so, then that is related to your particular installation. Thanks Kengun, This worked for 1.7:
This should do it: Extensions> Extension manager> Manage> Tick template to be deleted> Click "Uninstall".

Re: Cannot delete last style of a template
First make sure that template is not set as default, then EXTENTIONS==>EXTENTION MANAGER==>MANAGE==>UNINSTALL
( put a check againt template you want to uninstall and click unistall).

Re: Cannot delete last style of a template
i had a similar problem, uninstalled templates which were not removed by the module manager. the best way to assure their removal was logging in with a ftp client and deleting the file (they're easy to find under /templates).

Re: Cannot delete last style of a template
For anyone still having this issue - as I did after performing the tasks listed in this thread - go to Extensions > Extension Manager > Discover ... and clear the cache (button in upper right). Then try again.

Re: Cannot delete last style of a template
In Joomla 2.5.14:
Purge Cache was the final step that removed my deleted templates from Extensions > Template Manager.
I first deleted the template files and directories using FTP. They still appeared in Template Manager and refused to be deleted from there (the "cannot remove last style" message).
Because I had removed the files and directories, I was unable to remove or purge using Extensions > Extension Manager > Manage (the templates did now show there).
At some point, I cleaned the site cache and expired cache. The last step, after which these unwanted templates no longer appear, is Extensions > Extension Manager > Discover > Purge Cache (top right, with the other buttons, the usual place).
A tidbit. If you are looking the "templates" directory at the root of your Joomla 2.5 install, you will find only site templates. After a while, it occurred to me that the only other logical place for the administrator templates would be under the "Administrator" folder/directory. And voilà, there they are!

Templates Quick Tips wrote:Some Core or System Components, Modules, and Plugins cannot be uninstalled, so they cannot be selected to be uninstalled. Also the Default Template and Language are cannot be selected to be uninstalled.
Important: Do not delete the Default Template and Languege files using FTP because it generates errors in both the Front-end and Back-end.
