New htaccess file with 2.5.7

Joomla versions 2.5, 1.7 and 1.6 are all end-of-life since December 31st 2014 and are no longer supported. Please use Joomla 3.x instead.

New htaccess file with 2.5.7

Just updated Joomla to version 2.5.7 (from 2.5.6).

I note it has put back htaccess.txt to the home directory whereas i had already renamed the previous version of this to .htaccess.

Were there some updates in this new htaccess file or can i ignore delete this htaccess.txt?

Ignore it. It added the file back because it no longer existed. It didn't check to see if you had created the .htaccess.
