Migration of Joomla 1.5 template to 2.5
Hello there.
These days i successfully migrated my Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5.
Everything with the articles is fine on the new 2.5 templates.
But here comes my problem. On my J1.5 i am using a modification of themza's free templates ( mini website builder if i must be exact ), and i have absolutely no idea how can i run it on J2.5. I found some guides on the net for the templates but when i try them all i am getting is something that is not even close to site :X am getting some blank page with the sitename on it some template pictures and that's all. It doesnt give any errors at all but the whole template is not template. It doesnt have articles and it doesnt look like the J1.5 template . Im sorry if there is any good thread on this subject here but im not good with the search engine. I've tried the methods on the docs.joomla ... and the alternative method too / the one with copying atomic template and editing the stuffs there/ I am not a newbie, i can handle computers and programming languages like ASM,C,C++ but im not good at PHP/JS/HTML ... So is there any guide that can solve all my problems 'cause i read 5-6 guides and no good result at all. Or is there some extension or program that i could run to transform my old template to 2.5 template ?
Sorry for my poor english. Im not english native.

Re: Migration of Joomla 1.5 template to 2.5
Joomla 2.5 Templates are different to 1.5 Templates so you need to edit yours or get a different one.
See http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p ... 0#p2746800 why Themza Templates are bad.
As you can "can handle computers and programming languages like ASM,C,C++" then you will have little problem adjusting a 2.5 Template to look the way you want. All you need is a methodology and a point of refference for the css code. have a look at http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p ... 0#p2916630
Phoca have some good Templates http://www.phoca.cz/download/category/5 ... -templates 'Phoca T' is a good one.

Re: Migration of Joomla 1.5 template to 2.5
Thnaks for the advices Webdongle.
I don't really care about the hidden base64 encoded links in themza templates and i really need their template. Would you give me some link for guide or something that can help me migrate my template from 1.5 to 2.5. I read the stuffs in some sites about that process and i did the thinks exactly they were on the page but nothing...

Re: Migration of Joomla 1.5 template to 2.5
Thanks again Webdongle.
Does these guides work for all Joomla 1.5 templates ?
Because i read those links and followed the steps and nothing happened.
I hope the nothing happened because of me and the guides work 100% for all J1.5 templates.
And last question
On this site http://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_a_Joom ... Joomla_2.5
there is a step that gives the variable $app the address of something i guess ?!
$app =& JFactory::getApplication();
and after 2-3 lines we see
$app->getCfg('sitename'); Where $app = JFactory::getApplication();
do we give the $app a reference or we give copy of some returned value ?
Which is the true statement ?

Don't know because I install a Phoca Template, make a copy and edit the css. It's a lot quicker(IMHO) than messing around trying to convert one from 1.5.space95 wrote:...

Re: Migration of Joomla 1.5 template to 2.5
Thanks for the help.
Actually the problem was that in my template index.php i had 2 variables $mainframe and i had changed only the first to $app ...
Stupid mistake. Whenever anyone can use Find and Replace use it !
I think my problem is now SOLVED.
BTW is there a way i could put a tag SOLVED in my forum name ?

Yes, if you can still edit your OP(there is a time limit on editing posts). No. if you can't edit it. But just report your post with 'Other' and ask the moderators do it for youspace95 wrote:...
