How to redirect to login page after session timeout?

Post by lapaniina » Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:00 am

I have set the login page to the front end default page. How can I redirect the user to the default page after session timeout? At the moment, after the current session is timed out, all that happens is that the main menu disappears, but the current page stays :O. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I'm very, very new to Joomla! so please forgive me - but the only thing I can think of why this is happening, is if you have Caching enabled?

I don't have caching enabled on my site, and don't have this problem when my site 'timeouts'

Appologies mate if you've tried this already..... :-[

That didn't cross my mind, but caching is disabled as I checked. Thanks a lot anyway for giving it a thought! Other ideas?

Hi ya again! lol

I've just had another thought... In your 'Login' module, have you set the 'Logout redirection page' option to something else other than 'Default' ?

I set mine to 'home' and it redirects OK. Reading the 'help tip' it says leaving it at 'Default' will just redirect the user to the current page they are on. This could explain why only half of the menu appearing - the part non-registered users can see....

Just another thought!

Steve :)

Logout redirect page is the login page, and it works ok if the user actually logs out. I'm not sure if the session timeout is the same thing...?

I am having the same problem. When a session times out they are presented with a page that looks like a login page without the template. clicking any of the links results in a page not found error.
I may not be very good, but at least I'm not too fast.
