Install get stuck on step 1 "Language" J2.5 or J3.0

Post by Giomislande » Wed Dec 26, 2012 8:05 am

Hi there,
This is my first post, hope this is the right place.

I manage 2 shared accounts hosted by hostpapa.com and I installed Joomla for my websites
using the Rocketlauncher feature by www.rockettheme.com (the full instal of
Joomla with template and demo content).
The 2 installations I did were with Joomla 1.5 and it all went good.

Now I'm trying to instal FRACTURE template on the same server www.echologia.fr
but in a new directory /ecologia. And no matter what I try, I get stuck on the
first step "pick your language", because when I press NEXT, I get a
never ending spinning circle, like nothing is happening.
I tried both RocketLauncher with J2.5 and J3.0, but nothing is working.
I have been looking for many days on the web and found some indications, but no
real solution, except this link where they obviously take advantage of the
situation by asking you money for solving this problem :
http://www.itoctopus.com/stuck-on-the-l ... omla-2-5-2

On my side, I tried few things like changing some line in htaaccess, but nothing
works.

I tried then to install a new version of J2.5.8 with Fantastico via my cpanel, and it
worked perfectly fine !!! But of course I don't have the sample data of Fracture
template, which is the reason why we are suppose to use RocketLauncher.

I tried then to intall a new version of J2.5 and J3.0 downloaded straight from joomla.org, but got the same problem, installation doesn't pass step 1.

I contacted Rockettheme support, but they can't help, for them it is a server permission problem.
I contacted my hostpapa support, they say it is not their problem since the problem stand within the joomla installation...

I'm sorry for that long post, but I wanted to give some explanations first.

Anyone has a good idea on how I can install the Rocketlauncher and why I get
stuck here ? Am I the only one experiencing this problem when trying to instal a
new version of Joomla without using Fantastico ??..
Thank you for your help !

I was playing around with my first install of Wamp Server 2.1 and J2.5.8 and the first install of both went just fine. I went back and removed both the Wamp Server and J2.5.8 installation and did a fresh install, now I get the same problem with not being able to get past the language screen.....

After a number of attempts and reboots I was finally able to get the wamp server and j2.5.8 installed on my localhost computer. Thanks

I have checked and yes they either meet or exceed the requirements. As of my last I was able to finally get it installed after 2 additional attempts at a fresh install. Thanks
