E-Commerce solution

Post by aklisiewicz » Mon Jan 07, 2013 7:43 pm

I'm looking for a solution to be able to manage multiple E-Commerce stores on-line.
What I need is this:

- one registration/login place for all stores
- multiple independent stores, each with own administration page
- same customer experience for placing orders, payments etc.
- I would like to have to levels of site management: Level-1 -> owner of the site would be able to manage product entries, sales, pricing etc. Level-2 -> Main administrator would be able to manage advanced features, and perform multi-site extension installs.

Another words I and Farm of E-commerce stores where each store could be managed separately, and the whole Farm will be managed globally.
I'm not sure if Joomla +Extension would be the best fit for this purpose so I would like to ask for your advice.

What I would like to ask specifically is if anybody have seen a working implementation of something like that. I know in theory many things could be done, but in practice it all comes down to time/money factor.

Most popular component Virtue-Mart (which I use for one of my sites) seems to be very limited, and it is growing very slow in features....

Thank you for any suggestions.

Most of our work is supplying agencies so we get to see a lot of big developments and what they use, and in terms of a multi-store solution i would probably recommend magento, based on our experiences as we know a large business who one of our clients works for runs three shops for three companies under one installation of magento, Thus offers all you are looking for although can be a beast to maintain and is server hungry.

If you wish to still remain loyal to Joomla you can look at http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tions/9440 magebridge which is a bridge between Joomla and magento, we have yet to use this but from what ive heard it it a very recommended solution if you want to have the best of both worlds.

I've seen price of over $14000 for Enterprise Magento setup and it is beyond my reach. I need some solution which is free or almost free, and expandable. I tried Magento few times and it is not very user friendly. I'm not looking also for 4rd party company to implement it for me because I have no budget for that. I want to learn and do it myself. Thanks for comments and suggestions.

you don't need enterprise version, the company we support use the community version which suits there requirements and i would think you to. Wasn't promoting our services more to show we know what we are talking about.

However you are looking for some quite complex functionality, you may be able to find something that is straight out of the bag, perhaps not with Joomla though, i don't believe currently there is anything on the Joomla market that supports such functionality.

My suggestions would be 1. Look at something that does fit your budget -maybe having to sacrifice some functionality 2. Save some pennies and invest. 3. Get out the books and learn as i say magento community addition is very expandable and is free.... but isnt as simple as ABC. .. Stick with it.

Hi,

Did you ever checked Opencart? It has multi-store abilites which allow you to manage multiple stores from one admin interface. Also you can make levels for the administrators. Also it has many extensions and it's easier then Magento.
See http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=common/home

There is also a great extension thats integrate OpenCart in Joomla: http://mijosoft.com/joomla-extensions/m ... pping-cart
It's adapting the Joomla template, and also many of the Opencart extensions are working. Their support is great.
Although it's a commercial extension, it's not so expensive. Also they offer a 30 days money back guarentee.

And compared with Virtuemart you can do so much more. They have a demo too: http://www.mijosoftdemo.com/mijoshop. Hoover the menuitem Mijoshop and you get a link to the adminpart too.

Hi Arthur,
First of all, please clarify the type of stores you are talking about. I mean to ask, what the stores may contain?
Well, as per the requirements you are looking for, you can try out PayPlans as a solution. It is also compatible with Joomla 3.0.
It can fulfill all the requirements you mentioned in your post. Apart from your requirements, PayPlans also provides you 100+ apps which integrate you with many 3rd party extensions. Most importantly, the team's support is well praised.
You can explore more about http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... ions/16566. I hope that it will fulfill your requirements more than you expect.

Well, according to the extent they are providing you the features, functions and facilities I don't think that it's cost is high. Well, they have 30 days money back guarantee too. You can try out the component without any tension... What say?

Check here: http://mijosoft.com/joomla-extensions/m ... live-sites

I am working on one, but it's still in the demo version for my customer. So can't show yet.
They offer a 30 days money back guaranty. Just send them a mail and ask for the conditions.
I am sure they are willing to help you.

Hi there,

None of the Joomla extensions can offer such features except MijoShop + Multi Vendor extension:
http://mijosoft.com/joomla-extensions/m ... pping-cart
http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... on_id=5213
- multiple independent stores, each with own administration page
This is impossible with other Joomla extensions, including PayPlans which I don't knkow why Ankit calls them "they" as peoples of JoomlaXi and PayPlans are the same!!!

Anyway, what you want is called Multi Store + Multi Vendor. Multi Store is included in MijoShop:
http://mijosoft.com/joomla-extensions/m ... ulti-store

Multi Vendor adds the compatibility to have different admins per stores but all data stored in the "one database" and "single Joomla" installation.

Forgot to say, HikaShop has added Multi Vendor feature:
http://www.hikashop.com/en/component/hi ... id-20.html

But it doesn't have the Multi Store feature I mean there is only one store where vendors sell their products.

yes I've seen Hika Shop and thought it will do the job, but if what you say is true I would probably need to go with MijoShop. It all looks good with the exception they do not offer a user forum, which is kind of suspicious. I think every respectful component should offer a forum or some kind of user info exchange.
Thanks for sharing you saved me some time of research.

Any downsides for MijoShop ?

Hi Arthur,

I use Mijoshop now for half a year and I am very satisfied. Although they don't have a forum (many extensions doesn't have one), their ticket system is very fast (even in the weekend). And they also have a chat on the website. In some cases it's great to chat with a developer while he is fixing your problem and you can point him directly to the problem.

I tried the other OpenCart extensions too, and they all have downsides (like a lack of support, slow devellopment).

There is a good book about OpenCart too: http://www.amazon.com/OpenCart-Beginner ... 1849513023 and http://oscmanuals.com/opencart-fdm-2.html

Hey Aurthor, I've been using MijoShop since it was formerly known as AyelShop and AceShop. It's a great extension, definitely the best I've used in the Joomla world. The nice part about using OpenCart in Joomla is you get to use extensions from both communities. The developers are helpful and usually quick to respond. You could go with OpenCart for free, which isn't a bad option, but it is really nice having the MijoShop team to support you if things go wrong. For the price, it's absolutely worth the support. And you get to use Joomla, which is incredibly flexible compared to most eCommerce platforms.

Here's my website, if you were still looking for examples: http://www.soulrsurfboards.com
