How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
I would like to migrate content from a Joomla 1.5 website to Joomla 2.5.
With SPUpgrade I migrated all core content to Joomla 2.5
However, the old Joomla 1.5 website used Joomfish.
What's the best way to migrate content from Joomfish (on Joomla 1.5) to Joomla 2.5 articles?
PS: I don't want to use extensions like FaLang (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tent/18210) on the new Joomla 2.5 website.

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
I have the same question.
Have anyone an idea to write some script or some advice how to do that?
I want to and I would take a part of job if anyone wants to make a script

I am interrested too in the migration of translated content of Joomfish to Joomla! 2.5 articles. I will test a bit with "manual" export and import with phpmyadmin. Maybe I find a solution.

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
Peter, we had a deep look at this a few weeks ago for a client and we basically said: forget it!pe7er wrote:What's the best way to migrate content from Joomfish (on Joomla 1.5) to Joomla 2.5 articles?
One could make a script but that is a hell of a job (if it will work at all) since you need to create language files in J2.5 with data from Joomfish (assuming its correct) and the script would need to be able to create and parse language php-records and insert language strings. We do undretsand what it takes but it is a piece of horrible scripting!
This was a single site German/English only and we came to the conclusion not to do it based on cost effective reasons. If one has 15K multi-lingual records it would be another story but you quickly talk to high level PHP/mySQL as well as Joomla/ Joomfish knowledge and these people do not come cheap (Actually they are expensive)

I was thinking about just exporting articles (title+intro+maintext+create date) to some format, and to some category ("to-assign"),
importing them into Joomla, and then using the Article Manager to assign the articles to the right category + language (using Joomla's batch procedure to move articles).
As it was not a big site, I've advised my client to manually copy + paste the JoomFish articles from the old site to the new Joomla 2.5 website....

Use the txt file, the code in the message itself mixes html with sql. That doesn't work!
Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!

Thanks mate,
I was using the txt file, it had errors on lines 50 and 62 on
"$db->" was missing...
But anyway it still error because the sql syntax had ";" instead "," (comma).
Did you got it working? if so, can you please upload it for us.
Kind Regards,
Halison

No, just looked at the code. Did question the ";" as separator but wasn't sure. Could be a setting in the database. Still a problem after changing it to ","?

Try this one:
Change separator ; to ,
removed last . om list first insert.
Added $db->query(); to execute the queries.Change separator ; to ,
removed last . om list first insert.

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
It works like a charm. Thanks.
"But it didn't imported the menus, just content :-(":
05/02/13 16:00
I know why, the menu ID is different when we upgrade it, I think we have to do it manually.
05/02/13 17:15
Find another problem, on the DB table #_falang_content, the item reference_field is set to name, it should be title
05/02/13 17:25
it is missing the reference_field link in same cases, and the params are different to joomla 2.5
Final solution, migrate it by hand or just enter the available menus translation and save it

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
Hmmm i become the german articles as UK and without translation.
I migrated from 1.5 to 2.5 with jUpgrade. Installed German as second language and run the script.
None of the items are translated. - any suggestions?
EDIT:
I got it. Only the modules and menus are not transfered.
Has someone the possible solution what to do to make that work?

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
Hello all,
I launched the script and it run without any problems :
Total: 1621Rows
1 categories 2009-10-12 09:14:10
...
the problem is when I go in phpmyadmin and then I open the table j25_falang_content it's empty ? Or do I try to open the wrong table ?
For information, I'm in the migration process and my migrated site is under /jupgrade
thanks to all

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
Hi. Here is the script updated by me.
Instruction:
P.S.
Do not forget to add content language and to enable language switch plugin in J3.0 (I think in J2.5 too, I've not tested) to make FaLang work
Instruction:
- Let's assume you have Joomla 1.5 installed at www.domain.com. You've just migrated joomla 1.5 to joomla 2.5 using component JUpgrade and have the new joomla at www.domain.com/jupgrade. You've installed Falang extension in the new J2.5. If so, then the other points should be by default.
- The new J2.5 is placed in jupgrade folder and new j2.5 tables has prefix `j25_` and are placed in the same database as the old j1.5 DB.
- Download the following code http://paste.opensuse.org/view/raw/23535347, save it as a php file i.e. 'm.php' in the old joomla root. Run it in the browser http://www.domain.com/m.php
- Visit Joomla 2.5 backend - component Falang, check translations
- Remove the m.php file
- You can upgrade to J3.0 without any special steps
Code: Select all
<?php
set_time_limit(0);
//init Joomla Framework
define( '_JEXEC', 1 );
define( 'JPATH_BASE', realpath(dirname(".")));
define( 'DS', DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR );

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
Please help is appreciated:
I used both scripts "m.php and "jfish-to-falang.zip". Fortunatly I got no errors, but also no result. The translations are still missing.
I migrated from 1.5.26 to 2.5.6, incl. the update to 2.5.9 the default language is german. I am using a test installation on localhost, so first of all, there is no risk, to test all workarounds. Later, if there is success, i have to migrate it to a live installation.
Is there anybody who can help me? THX

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
What do you have in j25_falang_content? Those errors mean that the records are already there. But if they are there, why do you say it have not imported anything?

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
Hmmmm, I am a little bit confused.
I have some content, but only categories, and only german text - remember, i am missing the english
translations.
Look here to verify:
http://www.rog.de
I made a sql dump of this site, then I made a local installation of the old version, and every thing was working, incl. the translations.
Only i made the migration then, the translations were missing......

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
Akeebabackup of J1.5 web-site so I can establish it at my local host and migrate to J2.5 and migrate to JoomFish to Falang.
But as far as I remember, there is a J2.5 JoomFish versiob already. Maybe it would be better for you to use it, what do you think?

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
Hi, thanks a lot for the only script I was able to find that DO migrate content, incl k2 items from jf j1.5 to falang j2.5.
I have a serious problem though tried to make the process w. jupgrade, then running the script 3 times. I am sure I followed the steps thoroughly and I do get items migrated, but then when I open the site I get the error:
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 82051072) (tried to allocate 261900 bytes) in www/root/jupgrade/plugins/system/falangdriver/falang_database.php on line 303
Please, any help is much appreciated!
I searched like krazy for similar error outputs to no avail.
10x!

You have toooo much content. Ask your hoster to increase memory limit. Try breaking pages into pages to limit per-load memory usage. It's not a migration question anyway.

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
It does not sound like a real reason. I have 512MB limit, thats ridiculously high. The 1.5 site does not have any troubles. The migrated site, when I switch off FaLang plugin also does not have any trouble. But only when falang is switched on I get the error. So there must be something going on with those db tables migrated into the falang tables, no!?
Any suggestions what I might do? I have only 250 k2 items, not much text in each item, a video in some of them, an image gallery, and thats all.

Re: How to migrate Joomfish content (j1.5) to Joomla 2.5?
I don't have ideas. It must be inverstigated deeply, debugged. I didn't develop a script for performing migration and wasn't going to support it. I just shared my experience.
