Fatal error: in /homepages/28/d497735292/htdocs/index.php

Hello,
I was using Joomla v3.1.5 under a subdomain to test my site.
Then I decided to use the newest version 3.2.1 and install it under my root directory. I can login to my control panel as admin however when i launch my frontpage, i get following error.

Fatal error: Call to protected method JApplicationSite::route() from context '' in /homepages/28/d497735292/htdocs/index.php on line 37

I have enclosed index.php file into thsi message for further details.

The file you attached is not a Joomla 3.2.1 version of index.php, which may explain the error. The file is probably from an early version of Joomla 2.5.

well, that is bizarre!
As i have uploaded joomla v3.2.1 into my root directory, unzip then run the installation. Here is what i see in my control panel:
Joomla! Version Joomla! 3.2.1 Stable [ Ember ] 18-December-2013 14:30 GMT

So how i can fix this , should i delete all files&folders and re-run the installation again? and originally there was no any other file under root directory so not sure where this old version coming from!

You may have uploaded the index.php file from a wrong folder, but that is unlikely because the error message seems to originate from line 37 of the file you attached. The version information in the back end can still be work and show 3.2.1 because the administrator functions are loaded from a different index.php file.

It is best to check the version information from the first few lines of the file and also the file size.

The file you attached has Copyright (C) 2005 - 2011 at the top and its size is 56 lines, 1449 bytes.

The 3.2.1 version of index.php file has Copyright (C) 2005 - 2013 and its size is 41 lines, 1011 bytes.

Copy the correct index.php file from the installation zip archive to the main folder and see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise it is best to re-install from scratch.
